dallas guys with popcharger
How many of you have this and think its fine with our grueling summers? I will eb movign to college station this summer and its very hot and humid there and am trying to decided between the popcharger and just a drop in filter. I like the idea of the PC but am jsut worried abou tall the heat and humidity it will be sucking in. I am just looking for opinions from other texas people on this mod.
Thanks,

Adam,
Please send me a email and I will check on your club status. As of now, I do not have any info. I will tell you what I need to get your club card and discount at Grubbs. For some reason. people with web based email accounts are unable to sign up online. Sorry for the inconvenience.

After having the pop charger for about 2 weeks, this is what I found out:
1. It sounds awesome! I love that intake hiss at pt throttle. And it completely roars at full throttle.
2. It looks pretty good having the cone filter exposed like that. Looks like a serious piece of equipment.
3. The heat shield does jack. It may isolate from radiant heat, but the airflow over the radiator just floods the entire engine bay with hot air. I found out that last night when I opened up the hood after driving around for 30min. With the enigne on, the fan hadn't come on yet so I felt the air around the filter and it was somewhat cool. Then the fan kicked on. The blown air was almost too hot to bear. I mean it was HOT!!! and it was only 74F outside.
So this is what I have concluded. It won't matter if it's 70 or 100 outside, the air that the intake is injesting will be hot no matter what. So I'd say go for the pop charger if you want the looks and sound, but definitely not performance. Hell, I'd say any open filter that isn't COMPLETELY isolated from engine bay (like the stock box), then you won't see significant gains out of it.
Now I really want to see if I can make a custom air box that will isolate the filter completely from the engine bay but still leave the top open to show off the cone.

weather or not you get the PC ... if its hot outside your car is gonna be slower than if it was cooler outside... i drove to Palm Springs and it was like 120 degrees out and i noticed my car being a lot slower...BTW i have z-tube and JWT PC... if you get the PC get the Z-TUbe
