Ok... none of you decided to chime on on these tires, so I went with all of the recommendations on tirerack.com.
ended up getting the Bidgestone Turanza LS-V 225/50/17V
Much more quiet than the Goodyear's that were on it... More comfortable too.
I cant compare handling because I only got about 4k on the goodyears before I had to replace.
But so far I am happy

i am putting a set of these on my car tomorrow. in the 225/55 17 size. i am replacing a set of avons that went shi**y on me after 800 miles. started shaking, and no amount of balancing could cure them. tirerack is gonna credit me for the avons. hope the bridgestones are as good as they say.
