Endyn Woes.....

OK as some of you know, but not others, my RB26 was recently (and at this point recently is a relative term as it has been SEVERAL months). So off to the machine shop right. I mean that's the next logical step in gettign the car back on the streets. I toil over shops that can deal with this motor and come up with Endyn in no small part to some recommendations from other members and recent history on their webiste and other motors I knew they had built. No problem, they get the bottom end in early Feb. of this year. The ruined assembly was still in the block so the following items needed to happen.......Disassemble, bore, align hone, hone, balance, measure, get the correct sized pistons, rods, bearings, ARP bolts, etc. So all in all a pretty basic rebuild for after a blown motor at least. Well, begin the issues. First off it is very difficult to get status updates from them and information was sketchy at best. To my knowledge the motor sat around with little to no work done for the better part of AT LEAST 90 days. At the end of that period the pistons arrived, which according to Endyn was the lead time from the parent company of JE, Wiesco, Eagle on pistons. I sort of buy that although I could have gotten 87 mm pistons pretty quickly from California.....No big deal. So......for the next 30 to 45 days.....Nothing happened to my knowledge. 2 weeks ago the block was outsourced to another machine shop to prep the block. Whatever right. Endyn was supposed to get the block back last week......then sometime this week....they still don't have the block. I don't know where my block is or what's being done to it. I finally got on the phone with them to get the honest to goodness straight no bull**** answer. Larry felt backed in to a corner, started throwing a temper tantrum and it ended with him telling us if we were unhappy we could just come pick up all of the parts and take it somewhere else.....that is almost a direct quote from Larry the shop owner....that's right, he told a paying customer to shove it and take the motor and parts somewhere else if I wasn't pleased with the way things were going........needless to say I am actively working to find another machine shop to take the remaining work to. 4 almost 5 months at a machine shop no matter how good they are is bull****. I don't care if it is an RB26. I have parts get shipped directly from Japan to my doorstep in 3 weeks. There was little communication between them and myself and Furthermore after being treated so rudely on the phone I am surprised they are still in business. I don't doubt their work and still believe the work and quality that comes out of Endyn is top notch no doubt about it. But **** me running I WILL not as a paying customer be treated like I was when speaking the OWNER of the shop on the phone.

I've been witness to a lot of bad dealings w/ Larry before he even became big, back in like 98-99 when the LS/VTEC was getting huge. Being able to contact him is #1 issue from what I remember.

Well i don't really know about them, but i've always had good dealings with Alamo Autosports. Brice is always there and is always willing to talk, at least in my brief talks with him, and George seems to know a lot about the RB. Sorry to hear about the crap you are going through hope you get something going soon.

I would trust George in building an RB. German can throw one together quite well also.

In the Honda days, Endyn had bad reps and slow turnaround. Try T1:

Very awsome guys and they have been in numerous mags. Ask for Tony or Art.

Got the block back from them today...the machine work is actually done it is just a matter of assembly now. (They outsourced the maxhine work anyway.) I am going to have another shop look at it and re-measure everything before I have it assembled. we'll see.

I am so sorry to hear your wows with Larry. I have know him for a while and have always had good luck with him. I know how difficult he can be sometimes, and usually use Josh his helper to work his magic when Larry is in his too busy to deal with me mode.

I have a few good sources when it comes to machine work and assembly ,,,,, so give me a PM if you need any help.

I hate cars......PERIOD!!!!

No change really....In theory and i stress IN THEORY at this point because estimated ship dates this and that mean nothing to me until I see a box with my parts in it. So that having been said.......

IN THEORY, The bearings should be here from Japan on Friday....I say here as if they are being drop shipped but here of course meaning California at the Power Enterprise distribution center. Upon arrival I am having them overnight shipped to the machine shop to finish the assembly and get hte motor back in my shop's hands. The assembly once the bearings arrive should be 8 to 10 working hours of labor.....2 or 3 days. Then the reassembly with all of the extra fun goodies I have waiting around to go in to the car would add an extra week or something along with tuning or whatever......so end of August........MAYBE. And I STILL don't have the G back....(backordered parts from Nissan North America are killing me.)
