Make your factory sway bars a lil stiffer

What’s up G owners, my first time posting anything here or for any G37 website. So has anyone ever re’drilled a factory sway bar ends? I measured them and it looks like I can cleanly get around 5/8”of an inch space between the factory hole and the new hole. You know and still be safe, for someone who beats their sedan like a red headed stepchild. Wondering if I should give it a try, I mean bigger and stiffer aftermarket sway bars will be ultimately taking their place. Just a temporary idea to see how stiff they improved anyone ever tried this before or got any ideas? #projectFeelsLikeDeathRow

Clever idea. But it's not just about the connection, it's also the thickness and rigidity of the bar itself, right?

You seem motivated to experiment, so I say go for it. Worst that comes of this is you end up with some down time, and accelerate your plans to buy aftermarket. In other words, it's a win either way.

You are on the right track in the thought process, this type of mod has been done on several other cars. Some people will flatten more of the bar so they can get more holes! If you have the tools and the capability you could definitely do it.

Torsional Strength/Stiffness - in other words Size does matter when you're talking Sway Bars.

It doesn't really matter if the Sway Bar is Solid or Hollow, as it's the Outside Diameter (with suitable Wall Thickness) that determine the amount of Twisting allowed form end to end.

Since you'd really need to pull the sway off to drill the new holes properly anyway, I'd say wait until you find a set of bigger ones on sale and just do it once. I'm not sure a 5/8 lever arm change is enough to feel in driving the car. I could be wrong though - someone else might be able to do the math.

Z1 has their own sways now and had a spring sale on. Tire rack and Amazon are options too - I found my Hotchkis bars on TR and they were $100 cheaper than elsewhere.
