Road Trip Maintenance
Hey guys I知 going on a cross country road trip in May in my 2012 IPL 6MT. I currently have just over 40k miles on it and will probably have 41-42k on it by the time I leave. The trip is going to be 3 weeks long and probably around 8k miles. I知 wondering what all I should do or get done to my G before I go? Should I change trans and diff oil? Change coolant? Change belts? Battery? The manual says to change brake fluid, how is that done? Thanks!

If gear oils haven't been changed prior I would get that done, coolant is fine for at least another 30k, bleeding brakes is easy but needs to be done in the following order~
"passenger rear, driver front, driver rear then lastly passenger front", you need to have a helper to pump the brakes and need to keep the master cylinder full during the process. There's plenty of DIYs on the exact method on youtube. I would get a quart of Synthetic Dot 3-4.
I would also check brake pad thickness prior to your trip, should be ok but depends on
how it's been driven.
Also be sure your spare tire is aired up to proper pressure.

Thank you. I致e been reading the maintenance manual and the forums, I値l be changing the trans and diff oils as well as bleed the brakes with new fluid, check brakes and belts, and yes I値l check the spare tire and even bring a portable pump. Obviously change motor oil and filter and check air filters. I think that should do it. I shouldn稚 have to change the coolant until 100k miles and spark plugs at 60k according to maintenance manual.

When you service the brake fluid do a complete flush if that wasn't clear, nice to get all the old fluid out since it is affected by moisture and breaks down over time. Coolant at 100k should be fine, I changed mine at 75k, and am still on original plugs at 95k, so that's on the front burner now
Enjoy your road trip

Yeah thanks I understand the brake fluid change now. The manual says the IPL plugs should be replaced at 60k which seems early to me but either way I won’t hit 60k during this road trip.
