G37x Coilovers

Is there an “easy” way to take out the stock strut and spring on a G37x? All the videos or threads I’ve seen have only specified rwd models. I tried doing it the same way on the front but the front axle gets in the way from pulling out the stock components. Only thing I can think of is removing all of the other components in the way, rotor, caliper, spindle... please help if there is an easier way.

Check the FSM, AWD starts at page 25, should be very similar to the RWD except for that lower front shock mount~

It was a b*tch but I was able to get mine out by myself with some muscle and a lot of cussing. I think if you were to disconnect the sway bar it would be a lot easier.

I disconnected my sway bar and it helped but it was still not easy. Really is a 2 person job one person to push the lower components down and one to pull the shock.

Removing the upper control arm bolts gives you the ability to tilt the assembly down and outward so you can get the shock and spring out. No need to remove axle or hub. Just make sure you mind the brake line (stretch). I put a 5 gallon bucket under it to rest it on. Also don’t pull the front axle out too far. Yea the sway bar has to be disconnected too, both sides of the car have to be off the ground to relieve the torque on the bar.

It can be done but it is definitely a PIA. I used the jack to play around with the height of everything.

Ah yes, I should have mentioned that I removed my upper control arm as well. Just the two bolts on either side.
