DIY: Running Air Lines myself debate
Running Air Lines myself debate
Hi all, I've been on here for a while and never posted since all my questions have been answered by others asking them. This is one question I don't have an answer to. I have a 2008 G37 Coupe and I'm trying to install my air myself. My management is complete and now I plan to run my air lines, I've been debating running them inside the car vs outside. What do you guys think is better? If any of you have run your lines inside and drilled into the wheel wells can you post pics of your runs and and correct spots to drill. Also, if I'm running my lines outside, what would be the best way to go about doing it? Thanks
I ran my lines inside. I'm currently using airrex. The front strut lines I ran up into the engine bay and up along the sides under the rubber. For the driver's side lines after going under the rubber I took the plastic molding from the bottom of the windshield and ran it along that over the the passenger side where the main wiring harness was. For the passenger side same process. Under the rubber up to the harness. Making a small cut into the harness I then ran my air lines into the car. Once inside the passenger side I then removed the molding along the passenger interior and the rear seats. I continued to follow the harness basically to the trunk. Inside the trunk I saw that the only rubber gromet was towards the back. I didn't like that. So I drilled a hole roughly about about 2 inches up for the center of the trunk so that I could run my rear lines up into the trunk. It actually worked out well because I'm still able to have my spare tire without pinching any lines. I also had to remove all the plastic molding in the trunk so that I hide my lines. For the airrex kit, it was all contained in a single box. I'm sorry for the lousy write up on this. I will create one and have pictures up in the next day or so. Also, don't forget to seal the harness where you cut. Again, I'll have a write up in the next day hopefully. Hope this helps somewhat.

I just got done installing the front stuts for my AirRex system, here is how i routed my lines.

How i routed the airline for the driver side

How i routed the airline for the passenger side
This is located underneath the battery tray

This is a picture of it all aired out ( 19" sport wheels with 20mm spacers)

Here is how i routed the lines for the rear

Passenger Side Rear

Driver Side Rear

A picture before i raised the rear up an inch on the air strut.

This is after i raised it up an inch.
