Changing out the horn

I'm really not a fan of the little whinny horn and was thinking/wondering if it can be changed out for a much beefier sound?

Has anyone done that yet?

Not sure anybody here cares about the horn. But they do sell alternative horns and even air horns if you want to scare everyone within 5 mile radius.

The truth is,
I wouldn't mind a air horn
I just wasn't sure if it would fit or if it would be blowing fuses.

Am I to understand that the car has 2 horns?
A lower and upper horn

What's the difference and which horn is for telling people to get out the way?

True air horns require an air compressor and tank. Knock offs are just a compressor. To get the low sound of a semi, your going to need something fairly long. Almost anything that fits in the engine compartment is going to sound like the portable air horns. There loud, but not as satisfying as an 18 wheeler. I prefer the electric horn Police cars have,

Some guys with pickups even go to the actual train-type horns. KLA5. That would make a pedestrian need a underwear change.

I'm really just looking for something louder that would fit and not short out or blow a fuse when ever it went off

Yes! You can absolutely do this.

I purchased Hella Horns on Amazon. Much Much louder than stock and it was plug N play.

the two horns are located on the driver side. one is at the grill level. one is behind the fog light on the driver side (2010 locations)

I managed to change em out without removing the bumper. All i needed to do was remove the top black plastic peice above the bumper and also the inner fender on the driver side wheel.

unbolt- unplug, plug in new and bolt back up.

Only 50 bucks.

PM me for any questions

no, the hella horns are louder but higher pitched. look it up on youtube for examples. my guess is it wouldn't be the sound you're hoping for.

I recently bought my wife a new 4Runner and it came with an awful horn . . . meep meep. I put on a set of Fiamm El Grande 12v twin electric horn set Red with Chrome. Very nice. About 20 bucks and 30 minute install.

Very nice,
I like the plug and play part.

I'm not real handy under the hood.

That is true. Hella Horns are a higher pitch end result (one low tone, one high tone) but they are hella loud. It will grab anyone's attention when you need it.

its a nice surprise hearing something familiar but different when you get hella horned.
