(3M Di-Noc Black Carbon Fiber Wrap)

How was the 3M Di-Noc stuff to work with? It looks like the textured non-gloss. About to do this and all the DENTED and SCRATCHED aluminum in the car.

What did you use to remove the remaining rubber coating before applying the CF vinyl?

OP - Thank You for the detailed writeup on trim replacement and steering wheel removal!

Swapped my trim this morning, was fairly quick; without this info, would've definitely doubled or even quadruple the time it took.

Thank You!

Edit: anybody want my old trim for wrapping, let me know.

Thanks for the instructions; it was surprisingly easy to get everything apart to get to the trim.

Don't try this without a heat gun and loads of patience. I went with the 3M brushed aluminum to try to match the washi.

Thanks, OP, for this thread. Mine is out of warranty now and that damn plastic "soft coating" is sticky and scratching off. I can't tell you how much that trim piece annoys me. It isn't just that it is unattractive in a nearly perfect car, the rubbery stuff is "sticky", so it annoys me every time I place my fingers on it... which is most of the time I drive. Photo attached.

I can't believe a $1 piece of plastic that sold for $7 now has an MSRP of $144 and sells, discount, for over $100. Insane!!

I don't think I like the idea of trying to paint it or cover it. Haven't ordered the part yet, still thinking about what I am going to do....

Well, I bit the bullet and spent the $117.37 and bought it from orderinfinitiparts.com. Installed it today and it only took an hour, and that included time to clean the leather wheel really well! I wish to thank the forum members so much for the information and instructions.

I sold my old (rubbery coated) trim piece on Ebay. It went quickly!

Got mine wrapped in 3M 1080 Matte Black vinyl ($7.58/eBay) for OEM look

In step 3, the 2 bolts that holds down the airbag tray. Is there a recommend torque? Not sure if there should be any play to let the tray spring in and out. Or do I tighten it until the tray is snugged with the other component. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know where I can buy the steering bezel trim since everywhere online has it for $100+?

Also if anyone in the Houston area can do mine for me I can pay them a reasonable amount.
I know the part numbers are as shown below but the prices are crazy for a basic part.
