I'm assuming that you can only refinish the existing trim and not get a new one, as my guy at Nissan could not pull up a parts number other than the whole steering wheel assembly? Any other ideas for wraps or finish for the trim?

I don't think you can order the trim piece only. When I brought my car in to have them replace my chipped trim (under warranty), they replaced my whole steering wheel.

Apparently Infiniti/Nissan provides the trim pieces separately now!! (check next post).

ok, WHO IS THE MASTER OF THE INFINITI PART NUMBERS??? :) Yes, it's ME! ;)

Partnumbers of the trims are:

http://i50.tinypic.com/34xo03d.jpg
Nissan 48463-JK06A LIDSTEERING,RH - Black (only cruise-control hole)
Nissan 48463-JK06B LIDSTEERING,RH - Beige (only cruise-control hole)

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...m/DSC07393.jpg
Nissan 48463-JK07A LIDSTEERING,RH - Black (both cruise-control and Navi/Bluetooth hole)
Nissan 48463-JK07B LIDSTEERING,RH - Beige (both cruise-control and Navi/Bluetooth hole)

And yes, dealers can't find these numbers in the Nissan Fast catalog, though you can order them. Some strange Nissan/Infiniti decision...

^^^Good work bro. How much does the trim cost?

harp00n 05-23-2012 01:21 PM

Wow that's cheap....Where can I get one? Will the dealership have them in hand or do I need to order it online?

Dirt cheap! I'm gonna get one to replace my scratched up one.

Awesome find harp00n! At that price it makes me want to order one and wrap it in Di-Noc just to have as an option and see how I like it. With a spare you could switch it up whenever.

Wow! No Infiniti dealership I've interacted with so far said they'd sell it separately. Great news, and good find!

harp00n 05-24-2012 08:52 AM

on g35driver people say, that dealer refused to order this part, because of Nissan/Infiniti politics.

though, I'm sure you can find some company that would import it from UAE (I ordered it from there) or Japan.

I'm going to Korea next week so I'll check to see if Korean dealerships sell them separately.

burunet 06-21-2012 01:22 PM

The dealers won't sell it anymore, they'll only sell the entire assembly with the wires and buttons for $250, but orderinfinitirpart.com does for $8.23. Just put the part number and boom....

Are the part numbers for the same rubber coated trim piece? I think newer cars have hard plastic that is not rubber coated.

I did this DIY yesterday and accidentally pulled the cover off of the clockspring (the piece with the white knob and and connection to steering wheel controls). I tried to repack it myself and ended up bending the fragile ribbon and received an ABS warning light. I have a new clockspring coming later this week.

My problem is that now I'm seeing all kinds of problems beyond the ABS warning light.

1. "VDC Off" & "Slip" lights illuminate and stay lit every time car starts. I've read this is possibly related to low brake fluid or a sign that I need to replace my brake pads, which makes sense since the rear brakes have been squeaking lately. It's just strange that it started at exactly the same time as the ABS problems.

2. I get the "AFS Off" light after driving for a few minutes. This one is tricky. I think it may be that I didn't line up the steering wheel exactly where it should be. I'll try aligning it again when I fix the clockspring later this week.

Any way, I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced any of these issues and if they had any tips on what could be causing these issues.
