I am so surprised that the filters are SO DIRTY for a 1.5 yrs of usage!
I bought a pair of the new one from Infiniti but they are quite expensive... 55$ Canadian dollars...

I've always changed all filters after every other 3k mile oil change. And even those were dirty.

Wow! I would change mine every 10,000-12,000 miles if i still had factory OEM air filters. I suggest you do the same. Lol.

The 2010 G37 Sedan maintenance manual says to replace:

1. Engine air filters every 24 months or 30,000 miles
2. Cabin air filter every 12 months or 15,000 miles

Since I drive 5-6K miles a year, I'm going by "months" for both.

I would be interested in hearing how many miles Norker102 drove in 18 months on those filters.

If you're using those crappy paper filters then every 6 months at most

I would go with the recommended periodic changes, in the owner's manual. You can still do a visual check every 6 months. By a visual check I mean holding the air filter element up with a light bulb behind it. If you can not plainly see the light through the filter, change the filter.
Different driving conditions and different parts of the country are going to dirty the filters at different rates.
If you just like spending money, change the filter and fluids as often as you want.

I believe the OEM filters are lightly oiled.

Haha no. K&N filters are definitely not paper, and I'm sure other high quality filters aren't either. Are there good paper filters? Sure. Do the OEM ones fall into that category? Not IMO.
