to take it one step further, i swapped the "guts" of my oem button with the "guts" of the gtr button to get the backlighting to be white and match. looks much better at night that way. the amber backlighting didnt match anything else in the car.

broke down and bought one. if the install is as easy as the DIY'er says it is, then ill have pics later this week. I will say that the Red is a lot different than the pictures. Its almost a dark ruby red.

Tilt the steering wheel all the way up and don't be afraid to push out hard when pinching the sides of the OEM button. A flat head screw driver or scraper tool may help undo the plug.

alright done. did it a little different. I first popped out the entire unit (chrome piece and all). Then unplugged the plug in the back with a flat-head. then removed the chrome/plastic bezel that goes around the push button starter by pushing on the side clips. Once off, i just slid the bezel onto the new GTR button. Plugged in the plug in the back, then pushed everything back in. Took 10min tops.

Hey everyone. So I received the button today, went out to the car and did all the stuff (tilt and extend the steering column) and reached behind and pushed the stock button like 90 % percent out of the hole but it wont come anymore. I also removed the chrome trim and tried that way to no avail. It seems that the foam covered wire that connects to the back of the button is SUPER tight. It feels like there's no give in it to pull/push the button through the hole. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I can't see the plug to disconnect it and i'm worried i may lose the wire behind the column. I thought you would expose the connector first then disconnect it.

Hey guys, when my button comes, I'm gonna make a proper DIY for it so there's no confusion over this dang thing. It's pretty easy, just gotta be able to see in there.

NeverBoneStock, you still stuck with this thing?
