Anyone have a DIY for installing the overlays?

I got my GTR overlays for the headlights and tails. Is this a DIY or should I break open my wallet? Any help, tips, suggestions are welcome.

FInd out how much your local shop is gonna charge. It might be worth it to have it done by someone because they are not easy if you don't have experience in overlays before.

But anyway, let me know if you still want more info on the installation process.

If you have seen it done before, understand the process (not just videos off the web or included instructions), and have the tools, do it yourself. If not, have a pro do it, be sure to watch how he goes about installing them so you could do it yourself next time.

I think I could do the heads and tails myself, but installing a clear bra or roof overlay, I would pay a pro.

How long did it take for you to recieve the overlays from Bat?

I got my overlays in about a week. Pretty quick. I was gonna tackle this thing myself, but seeing all the curves and the fact I wanted it perfect, i called around to get it done by a pro. They got me in the same day, saturday, and only charged $25 to do all 4. It took the guy about an hour, and it looked easy, but time consuming. I don't think I have the patience to do a good job on overlays but they look awesome and I highly recommend them as a mod.

I can't find anyone locally in WA state area willing to takle this installation....My tint guy refused and would not do it for any amount of cash I gave him...he told our tailights make it too tough for a cleaned installation

get a spray bottle with soapy water and try it yourself. just make sure to keep them as well as possible. if you screw up, then just buy another set.

So would you spray the area with soap and water, then apply the overlay? What do you do with the rubbing alcohol?

i just installed my valance, installing was not bad at all

1. Clean the area.
2. Soap and water, i soaked a spounge and wet the area
3. Then i applied tint, find postion. You dont have to find exact position when applied, get an idea where you want it to be.
4. Start applying heat so it starts to stick, then find perfect position. (easier this way for me since it was sliding all over the place)+ (little heat and you can stretch the overlay)
5. If you caint find posiion get a spray bottle with soapy water and move the overlay around until perfect spot.
6. Push all bubbles out with credit card wraped in a terry cloth, or just use your thumb which i did. (found it easier)
7. Any bubbles that didnt come out, just puncture a little TINY TINY whole with a clothes pin or something and it should look complete.

So items required, soap and water +spounge+ spray bottle. Hair dryer or heat gun. clothes pin, credit card+ towel. good luck

AND BTW you shouldent need to cut anything if so not much, can tuck the extra around tailights or under neather car (for valance) w.e your installing

I'm a DIY'er all the way down to building engines, electrical, audio, custom work, paint, etc, but this is one of the few things I paid to have done. The taillights have the crazy contour thats hard to properly wrap and look presentable. My guy only charged me $60 for the rear lights, but carcustoms.com sold me the wrong tint. I bought the GTR style and this was clearly regular tint. Looks like I'll be paying to have it wrapped again if I want the GTR look.

I just got my overlays from Bats and will be doing them myself. Here are some how-to links he includes with the shipment:
