Engine cover emblem replacement
Engine cover emblem replacement
I notice that several people have lost their chrome emblem on their engine cover. Mine finally bit the dust after some hard back road driving. Infiniti doesn't sell the emblem separately, you have to purchase the entire cover. Is the best solution to spring for the carbon fiber cover and just purchase an aftermarket infiniti logo and stick it on? If the OEM cover wasn't recessed, that what I'd do with this one. I'd like to hear some thoughts, thanks.
It really stinks that the Infiniti emblems are made of plastic and held in place by tiny plastic "pins" while the JDM version- the same damn cover- has the Nissan emblem made of metal and held tightly in place by thick metal "tabs" (at least mine does).
Plenty of options: used cover off eBay, junkyard emblems (some say the G35 fits decently), custom plates/decals. etc. Just a matter of finding what works for you. Do a search and you will find plenty of options/fixes. If you do get a cheap cover or emblem off eBay (like I did once) be sure to remove/reapply the emblem using a good epoxy (I used JBWeld).
Good luck!

I hunted down a used engine cover on Ebay with the emblem, popped it off and then glued it back on with JB Weld. It's been on there for probably close to five years now. Whatever emblem solution you think looks best is fine, just make sure you use a strong adhesive and you should be golden.

Since this situation is a known problem, some years back I got proactive about it and removed the FUJI, reapplied with new adhesive.
If anyone still has their engine cover emblem and is worried about it falling off... this might not be a bad idea.
