Just wanted to write this up for anyone that is wanting to do this on their oem exhaust. I wet sanded the exhaust tip with a 400, 800, then 2000 grit. After completing I used some Mothers polisher. It turned out pretty good for my liking but you can always drop the muffler and polish it with a rotary for a better finish.

At a very basic level, what I'm going to say probably seems wrong, but... for SS parts that are bare, polished metal and don't have a clear coat, four-naught (0000) steel wool works wonders, followed up with metal polish.

 

i tried that and it didn’t do much for me so I just wet sanded it and it turned out well for my liking. But that is another option if the tips are not as bad as mine were, then yes steel wool work best.

 

Just realized those aren't OEM tips. I mean, great job on restoring them, but they aren't OEM.

Unless... does the Coupe use different tips?

 

This is my stock exhaust, and yes it’s a coupe, but I’m not to sure the difference between sedan and coupe tips never looked into it as much.

 

OEM Sedan tips are shorter, oval, with a folded overlapping section underneath, and an inner sleeve.

I never knew they were different than the Coupe. Go figure.

These are nicer. Coupe wins again, LOL.
