How to wash polishing pads

So after your done detailing your car, how do you wash your polishing pads? I've seen the gritguard pad polisher, but those things are like $100!! That is way too much, i have also seen people just ringing them out in the sink with dawn. What do you guys do? I am new to the detailing world, so please be kind haha

As soon as you are done, throw them into a bucket with warm water and pad cleaner. When you're done, wring all the polish out and rinse them thoroughly. Detailed Image has packets of granular pad cleaner. Dish soap isn't good because it leaves a residue, the pad cleaner is citrus based and doesn't.

I think it's called snappy pad cleaner. It's cheap.

For 20+ years every interior/exterior/glass applicator pad, bonnet, terry cloth, cloth diaper, microfiber towel and rag I own get tossed in the washer together. Including my wheel and chrome rags, which get filthy. I use Tide. My front loader washer has a sanitize/super hot water option, cycle takes an hour in this setting. Everything but chamois then goes into the dryer. I have a couple bonnets with a plastic backing, they are warped presumably from the heat but function perfectly. I've never seen any ill-effects on the cars or cleaning supplies, nor has my wife complained that I'm screwing up the washer, or the car, and trust me, she'd let me know all about it.

For my buffer/polisher I have a lambs wool pad that I clean in the sink with.... Woolite.

Don't us Dawn it will leave a residue and can dry out your pads. I wahs mine in the washer too just like GAWD and I've never had an issue. I also always spray some quikc detailer on the pad and rub it in before I put on the product I'm going to use. Never had one issue at all. It the pad is really gummed up use an old tooth brush and scrub it with some car wash soap and warm water first and then throw it in the washer (ring it out first). If that doesn't get the pad clean just toss it and get a new one. You should always have a hefty supply of pads.
