Polishing Light Covers?

I was wondering if there is a product that can pretty much melt a layer of plastic off of my headlight covers? Over time the covers get scratched and dirty, is there anyway to clear them up back to normal?

Uh ... you don't want to melt your headlight covers. There are DIY kits or any good detail shop can do it. It requires patience as you are sanding and polishing your covers. I did it on my daughters car and I would pay someone if I had to do it again.

HeMan, the auto stores sell diy kits to polish your headlights back to original. All you need is a drill, the diy kit and about an hour of your time. If you don't want to do this, there are plenty of places that will do the work.

basically what 2008G-man says...

Not sure if this will actually work, but I recently saw on one of those auto shows on Velocity that a rag and some Off bug spray does the trick. I believe it has to be the aerosol type that contains Deet, but supposedly it works pretty well to restore back to normal.
