Dried salt in cars carpet

Hey,

So after the winter has passed there are lots of dried salt around my pedals, near seat gaps and such. What is the easiest way to get them out? the ones between the seats are really hard to reach as well .

Thanks!

I use a stiff brush in soapy water. I scrub it really well, getting kind of wet to dissolve the salt, then I either will pat it dry or use a wet vac to suck out as much water as I can. Then let it air dry with the windows vented.

Copy pasting my post from another form. We had quite a bit of snowfall up here in Toronto.

I picked up the Bissell Spotfree Carpet cleaner from sears. I also ordered the 2-in-1 crevice tool that comes with the Costco model. It made cleaning the corners easy. The suction on this tool isn't the best, so I also used the standard brush after cleaning to remove dirty water.
Bissell Crevice Tool Sliding 1425. Manufacturers Part # 2030116

I cleaned using tap water. Still have one of the rear seats to do for which I will try water + vinegar. For under $100 I think it was definitely worth it and much faster than cleaning with elbow grease. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Salt spilled over the sides of the matt throughout the winter. Next winter I will get weathertechs or maxpiders.

Another before, yes that white stuff is salt.

After:

Keep a bucket with you to dump the dirty water, the tank fills up very fast.

Use compressed air to blow as much crap out from between the seats. Put your vac or a wet rag on the other side of where you are blowing to minimize the mess.

Get some weathertech mats to help prevent it from happening again!
