Hey biggwappz, your input is greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly but it looks as though you are saying "you don't need wax" after polishing. And it appears you've stated "that wax is a sealant ment to last 2-3 months".

Answers:
1. The m205 is a polish that will remove swirls and is not meant to protect your paint. After the polishing, the owner will then have a choice of applying sealant or wax or a combination of both products. I prefer to apply a sealant for base protection then I like to apply a wax as I have a black G and it can provide a deeper glow. Both applications are not necessary but it's my preference.
2. Also, I'm sure you're not implying that m205 is a wax or a sealant as that is how it appears you wrote it in your post. But if you are, that is incorrect. It's simply a polish.

I wanted to reply so others aren't confused like I was when I read your post.

i have an even easier method, don't use wax...sonax has an amazing spray on one (do two coats) that lasts 6 months, beads like crazy and provides great depth and shine

SONAX ProfiLine Polymer Net Shield

Super informative thread... sounds like it's time to get a Porter Cable!

I must admit, I'm a little nervous about paint and power tools being a newbie. Is it possible to damage the paint without extreme caution?

Any time you're dealing w/ power tools in motion there is possibility for trouble, but yeah, as long as you keep the buffer under control and take a bit of time to get familiar w/ the tool you'll be fine

i honestly believe there's no reason to even use any traditional waxes or sealants anymore. the sonax stuff i linked to earlier is way better and easier to apply

I just found out about clay myself. I have a 2013, had only 3 Miles on it when I picked it up in Nov. I put just over 3.5K miles on it on 4 months through a heavy winter here in Philly. I just want to say I was very sketchy at first because my car was so new. After spending some serious time claying the car I was BLOWN AWAY at what came off and the difference in appearance and feel! Clay is definitely the way to go but make sure you give it a very good wash first or your clay can get very dirty which is not good.

ALso I used Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay and Lubricant - worked great!!!

Good Luck! Im still learning myself so no worries

I used mother's clay bar, it's malleable and does a great job.

for anyone that has a random orbital, check out this method to clay:

NanoSkin Autoscrub 6 inch Pad - Better than a Clay Bar

kinda expensive, but the pad lasts for about 50 uses and is a lot faster and does a better job than traditional clay bar

Dont worry or be nervous, you can run the P.C. at 6 speed and black pad and you will not harm the paint. P.C. will slow down on curves, thats the beauty of the P.C. it will not burn the clearcoat

The towel is way better, remember to roll it up with the back of the towel touching the clay, place it on a ziplock back and store it in a cool spot.

Anyone of heard of or saw a product called fast wax? it's a wash and wax in an aerosol can. It's sold at gas stations. these guys come up to your car and try to spray it on to show you a demo. Anyone seen it, used it, let them do the demo? What do you think?

Bunch of crap.. And don't even think about letting them "try" it on your car.
