Is A54 Vibrant red paint single stage or clear coated?

Hey guys I need some help here. Is the A54 Vibrant red paint single stage or is it clear coated? I just started polishing my oem hood and im getting a lot of pigment transfer onto my pads. This is normally a sign of single stage paint. My car is a 08 and I bought it brand new from the dealer. Will try and get some pics up shortly

Im using the PC7424XP polisher from Adams with a 3 stage polishing system. Im going very conservative and am only using speed 4. This happens instantly i've cleaned my pads twice.

This 'tells you is a single stage paint

Some manufactures still use a single stage paint systems, especially on red, white and black vehicles. Avoid (unless absolutely necessary, as single stage paint is usually less dense (soft) paint)) abrasive compounds and / or foam pads (use a Black (Finesse) pad for product application) use a chemical cleaner whenever possible (Zanio Fusion Paint Cleaner or Klasse All-In-One) for surface polishing try the Optimum Hyper range of polishes

I had no idea that Vibrant Red was single stage. How would you recommend correcting deeper and more numerous scratches and imperfections without abrasives and foam pads?

So if this paint is single stage and on the soft side. Wont I be able to polish this by hand then. Still puzzled why Infiniti would use single stage paint for there Red. How much money could they possibly be saving by using crappy paint versus good paint (base with clear coat)

Has anyone else with a VR coupe experienced these issues when attempting to machine polish? Thanks

I just tried out some CG Black Light on the Mrs'. black G. I did use a Flex and white pad but you could also use a black or blue. It's not abrasive, you might try it with your PC on 2 or 3. Or by hand. It gave me pretty good results for the car not having been polished or clayed beforehand. Of course we went to eat lunch today and it got rained on immediately.

wow, this is a shocker, for me at least. I noticed when I clayed my car for the first time and hit it with some Klasse AIO and pink wax by hand it looked like I got just a little bit of paint transfer, but I thought it must have been my imagination.

Ultra violet (UV) radiation causes both fading (photo degeneration) and oxidisation, which may be the cause of your colour transfer.

but the fsm says clearcoat?

How does this reconcile with the fsm?
I took this off an early factory service manual "brm module"
A54 is supposed to be 3P "3-coat pearl" with clearcoat
I don't doubt you folks are personally experiencing paint transfer
Maybe Nissan changed the secret recipe to single stage but kept the A54 color code?

Three polishes in five years and absolutely no paint transfer.

Any paint system (SS or BC-CC) will oxidize, paint transfer is a matter fo degrees, a pad changing colour slightly is oxidation removal, major pad colour change is paint transfer.
