got hit

So, I finally picked up my baby 3 weeks ago. Love it dearly, no complaints, until some asshat drove into me in my school parking lot... There's a quarter-sized dent now w/ a little trail and some paint transfer. Any advice on how to get the dent out?

I'll try to clay the **** out of it to get the black paint off of my silver car... I tried using the blowdryer/compressed air thing, but it didn't get the dent out fully.

TIA!

edit: I'll post pictures up tonight of the dent.

deffinitely dont clay the area where the paint transfered, you are much better off using a compound or polish to try to get it out. As for the dent, check around as many local shops offer PDR (Paintless Dent Removal)

Without question I would go with PDR and maybe a cleaner wax or light duty compound. Sorry for your trouble, I get so mad with people who are careless and dent others cars or even worse, keying nice cars just because the car is nicer then what they're driving. Hope whatever repair you decide on all works out well and your car gets back to the "Like New" condition you kept it in.

Not sure if u have uninsured motorist onyour insurance...but maybe that can pay for you to have it done...(if your deductible is not too high)

Ehh, that seems like too much work. Insurance is high enough/year as it is. I'll try to pull some strings w/ some friends and try to get a mechanic to help me out. I'm kinda close to the BMW community and LTBMW, so I'll see what I can do with that.

btw, I've seen you around on Ventura before. I remember staring at your fat rear tires, and I was like "do want". I think the last time I saw you, you had some girl in the car, so I didn't want to intrude, lol.

I would have 2 options:

1) Get the entire thing professionally fixed. Call your insurance, and pay the deductible.

2) If you have detailing stuff at your house and experience detailing, then Have the dent fixed professionally, and then fix the paint yourself. Use a compound to remove the scratches that can be removed, then wetsand the areas where the paint is completely removed to smoothen the edges, then use touch up paint, then lightly wetsand to get the paint even with the paint surface, then use Megs 105/205 on the area, then hit it with some sealant.

Yeah, don't have that much experience w/ detailing... Simple cleans and waxes, but no wetsands...

That is one of the worst places to get hit. I had damage in the same area before but it was worse for me, the dent was larger and wider and more paint damage. Had it fixed, ran me about $870. It was NOT fun.

Pretty much got all of the paint out w/ Meguair's Cleaner wax, all that's left is the dent. Btw, found a small scratch on my rear bumper too. Couldn't really get it out w/ the cleaner wax, but maybe several coats will do the trick?
