First Ever Detail

I recently purchased a OB G37s... previous owner admitted that he did not take care of the paint and always used the "gas station" car wash... after washing the car by hand I noticed the paint was FULL of swirl marks and minor scratches... all over the paint... I was going to pay to have them removed and for a full detail ... but then found this site and asking a ton of questions (thanks!)...I decided to invest in some equipment from DI (Greg is the man!) and today I did my FIRST EVER DETAIL...I never used a orbital until today . Here is what I did:

Porter Cable 7424xp
Wash: Dawn 2oz
Clay: Gold class
M105 with Cyan Pad
M205 with Tangerine Pad
CG EZ glaze by hand
Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant with Crimson Pad

I was Blown away by the results! No Swirls No Scratches and the paint looks perfect... wet shinny looking... Not bad for my FIRST EVER DETAIL attempt

Sorry I did not take before pics but I assure you it was mess!Attachment 86528

I trust theres another M105/205 convert eh? Looks great man!

These polishes are great and IMO really easy to use. If you take your time and keep it a clean job, the M105/205/Sealant yields a fantastic job.

In the future you should be able to just do a 1 step polish with the M205 and re-apply the sealant for maintenance polishes. Heck, for my maintenance polishes, sometimes I just use PO85RD on a black pad to just give it the pop back when I have extremely minor swirl marks.

Keep an eye on your water beading over the next few months to keep tabs of how long the Backfire sealant lasts. My FMJ was 2-4 months, which was rather disappointing. I was hoping to get 4-6 from the Blackfire.

The DI PC package with the hydro tech pads and M105/205 polishes is a fantastic package! Add a crimson pad and some blackfire and you are set with a minimal routine.

Good choices!

Check out detailedimage.com.

If you are starting from scratch, they have a porter cable package with hydro tech pads and the M105/205 polishes which are a fantastic set. Add a crimson pad and some blackfire sealant and you have a very user friendly, easy to use setup which should give you 6 months of protection.

Excellent job; looks great. I also have a PC but I'm scared as hell to use bc I've never used one b4 and my car is black and new. I will use it this summer.

I just got the flex package. Can't wait to do my first real detail.

I hope mine comes out as good as yours did!
