Optimum (OPT) No Rinse Wash & Shine

 

ok, so ive heard about how great this ONR stuff is, but if it's so great, why do people still wash their car with hoses? what doesn't this stuff do that a conventional cleaning does? and can you clean a very dirty car with this stuff?

 

I've used ONR on my car every now and then. I like the fact that you don't use as much water and save time on drying. But I have issues when it comes to removing a bumper full of sticky bugs, tar on my sideskirt, and in between the cracks of my wheels.

But it may be your best bet.

 

I now live in a condo and with the exact situation. This is what I do:

• Go to a local coin wash at night when there's hardly anyone there. Bring my bucket with my soap/mitt/towel/etc. and basically only use their water. I bought a great 5 gallon bucket with a screw-on top that I'll usually fill at home with warm water and my soap before leaving so I only need to wet the car, top off the bucket, wash and then rinse. Since my coin wash doesn't have a minimum time requirement I can rinse the car in sections.
• I do have covered parking so I can let it sit overnight and not worry about dirt/etc.
• The next morning I'll do my polish/detail work.
• In between these hand washes when the car is not super dirty I'll take it to a local touchless car wash. I know many here have a problem with that, and I used to have a problem with them as well, but I've tried these and found that they do a really good job in this situation. If the car more then just dusty this won't give you a perfect wash though and you'll see a bit of a film, but as I said if it's just to remove the daily drive dust and stuff this works great. Some people claim these are really harsh on the paint but I've found with a good sealer (I use Zaino Clear Seal about twice a year) it's works very well.
• I haven't used the waterless wash product yet but I'll probably try it this winter where I'll used the coin wash of touchless car wash to get the major dirt off and then use this in my garage.

It depends on where you live and your situation but this works well for me. I've always been real picky about keeping my cars spotless and I've also had the summer sports cars in the past which required more attention but I'm getting older and this is a daily driver which will get some dirt on it within a day or so of washing so I can't keep it as pristine as I used to. A good polish and sealer goes a long way to making it easier.
