Finally detailed my new baby
Finally detailed my new baby
So, I waited a month or so to figure out products and techniques for detailing my Graphite Shadow G37xS, based on threads on the forum. I came up with these products, based on DI's recommendations:
303 Aerospace Protectant for the interior
Stoner Invisible Glass for the windows
Poorboy's World Super Slick & Suds Car Wash
DI Accessories Gentle Fine Grade Clay - 180 g
Dodo Juice Born Slippy Clay Lube Concentrate
Chemical Guys Extreme EZ-Creme Glaze with Acryllic Shine II
Chemical Guys Jetseal 109
Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax
I forget the Tire Gel and wheel cleaner I used.
I use the Porter Cable 7424XP that was so highly recommended to apply each layer (except the wax obviously). I was happy the car was in good shape from the dealership. THe clay bar was only needed for the lower part of the side skirts really (some grease that they didn't take off), but I did it anyway to be safe. I have been washing the car every week and using ONR every couple of days after a rain storm or something, so it was in good shape.
I am very pleased with the results. The results were not as obvious as on black cars, but the shine is very nice. I have never used an orbital before, so I was nervous, but It took me 5 hours to do everything. Each step took about an hour: Wash/Dry, Clay, Glaze, Seal, Wax. I waited 12 hours between sealing and waxing.
I used 1 coat of everything....Not sure if I should or could use multiple coats of any step to get better results? Especially the Glaze, Seal or wax?
I'll post pics tomorrow...too tired now! Does that amount of time seam about right to people or is it too fast/slow? I didn't polish, so I am guessing that would have taken 2 hours or more.
