Touch up paint...

When I bought my G37 used from Infiniti Dealership, they "tried" to cover up the scratches by using touch-up paint...

BUT they put so much of touch-up paint on the scratches that it actually above the paint level surfaces....

here is one of the scratch that is covered with touch-up paint

Is there anything I can do using polish?

If you have any experience, wetsand it with 2000 grit and then buff.

If not, take it to a reputable body shop.

Was this on a new car? I would have never accepted the car with scratches like that and would pass and try to find another one.

If you have some experience wet sand and buff should do the trick, otherwise take it to a pro.

I'd try compound, cutting, then finishing polishes first to see if that corrects it sufficiently. A rotary will do much better than a PC, but not if you're inexperienced with it because you'll make it worse. If you aren't happy with the results of polishing alone, then I'd try the wet sanding and polishing. Only attempt wet sanding if you know what you're doing.

Is this the only touch up spot you have on the car? If not how many? Do you want me to just correct the touch up spot or detail the whole car?

I'll take a look at it in persona and see what I can do for you. I won't be able to make it perfect, but I can certainly make it look better than it does now. It will have to be next week though, probably going out of town for the holidy.

Compounding with a PC is safer than wet sanding. You may leave a haze on the black paint, but going back over it with a cutting then a finshing polish will get rid of the compound haze. If you can correct it without wet sanding, do it.

The dealership usually works with people that repair deep scratches and dent for cars on there lot. When I got my car it had a deep scratch on the front bumper and they said they'll take car of it. When I received the car I cudn't even find a blemish where the scratch was. Talk to them usually they have someone they work with or go to a different dealership and ask them.
