Menzerna FMJ vs ......

I have Menzerna FMJ on the way (thanks George at Detailed Image!) along with a few other goodies. I've used Poorboy's World EX sealant before and thought the shine was pretty good but not world class. I'm planning to use the Menzerna FTG first, use 2 coats of FMJ, and top it with 2 coats of Migliore Original.

My question is for those who've used both. Which leaves a better shine the FMJ or the EX? Will I really benefit much (in terms of gloss and depth, not durability) by topping it with the wax if the shine from the FMJ is satisfactory? Everything I've read says it's the easiest sealant around as far as application. I thought the EX was pretty easy.

Will I be wasting time and product by topping the FMJ with wax?

Shane? George? Other pros?

I haven't used Poorboys EX, but I have used their EX-P sealant. I can tell you that FMJ gives my Garnet Ember G a much better shine than EX-P does. As far as depth and gloss in concerned, I have yet to use a better sealant than FMJ. The other great plus to FMJ is that it is incredibly easy to use..........far better than any other sealant I've used. If you think the Poorboys is easy to use, wait until you use FMJ. Don't get me wrong though, the EX-P is still a great sealant and is very durable.

As great as FMJ is in the looks department, I still love having a great Carnuba over top of it for the added depth and gloss. Again though, I have only used EX-P and not EX so keep that in mind.

BB... I've used both EX-P and FMJ, not EX though, but I can't image it is that different. FMJ stands as a better product over the Poorboys sealants in my opinion. I think the Shine is better, however, not by much. The big win for FMJ is in 2 areas for me... Ease of use and Longevity. FMJ is an easy on easy off product. It is amazing at how easy it is to use where you are using a machine or by hand. As far as the longevity of the product, I think FMJ lasts a bit long than Poorboys Sealants by a long stretch.

Post up and let us know what you think. Always good to see others opinions. Good luck.

I have a very similar experience between the two products as you described Blackjack. The one other thing I'll add to FMJ's advantage is the surface slickness left behind for the first week or so after application. I actually like the look of EX-P (perhaps even better than FMJ) on some metallic paint finishes.

The jury is in...

You guys were right. I did my trunk lid and roof last night to test out my new products. The Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze and topped it with the Full Molecular Jacket. Wow this stuff is terrific. It is a thinner viscosity than I thought it would be, but it's very slick and somewhat oily. It goes n like water and comes off easier than any sealant I've ever used. The shine and slick wet look and feel it left is amazing, I almost don't want to top it with any wax but I probably will once it cures for that little extra gloss.

By the way, thanks for putting it on sale 3 hours after I ordered!

Awesome, BB! Glad you liked it. Menzerna FTG and FMJ are absolutely my favorites. I will occassionaly top it off with some Natty's Blue, recently Migliore's, but I don't really notice much of a difference.

I love the deep wet look... It's not overly shiny like glass (I don't like that look), but the perfect medium.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on it!

Depending on temperature, I prefer 8-12 hours (or overnight is my preference). Some leave as little as 2 hours.
