June Specials at DetailedImage.com

There is a lot to go over this month! As always we have some great specials for June that will help any detailer and save you money. We have a new bi-monthly FREE give-away for some of our favorite Chemical Guys products (Jetseal 109 and 50/50 Wax)! Our newest feature is a Daily Special that you can find on our homepage.

June Special #1

2X or more Microfiber Waffle Weave Drying Towels $13.50 each, regularly $19.99.
As most people know washing and drying is where most fine scratches and swirls are added to the clear coat. Therefore it's really important to use clean high quality products. The Detailed Image Waffle Weave Drying Towel is the premier towel for safe and effective drying. The waffle weave pattern makes this towel super absorbent, capable of holding 5x - 10x times it's dry weight. It also uses some of the highest quality microfiber strands and silk edging to ensure it's the safest product possible for drying. Try using this towel today and you will dry faster and significantly reduce the possibility of adding imperfections to your paint.

June Special # 2

Gilmour Foamaster II (Foam Gun) Includes a FREE Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss
The Gilmour Foamaster II sprays large amounts of suds right on your paint for quick and efficient washings. Mix the Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss, or your favorite shampoo, with water in the reservoir and then hook it up to your hose and you are ready to wash your vehicle. This method saves you plenty of time from having to get out a bucket of water and having to spread the shampoo on the paint with your mitt. Now you can cover your entire vehicle with shampoo which immediately starts loosening contaminants. This reduce the chances of grinding in contaminants and helps you wash safely. Additionally, this tool is just fun to use, try it today!

June - July Contest

The June-July contest is giving away a FREE Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 and Chemical Guys 50/50 Limited Series Concourse Paste Wax. Registering for the contest takes less than two minutes and there are no strings attached. We'll notify you via e-mail if you are the winner. Sign up today because you've got to be in it to win it!

Yes, there are 5 foam adjustment levels as well as a water only option with the foam gun hooked up, so 6 total. This is also the larger 1/2 gallon tank compared to the smaller quart size that is also offered by Gilmour. The brass fittings on Gilmour products are a pleasure to work with, very high quality unit. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Hi George,

This is the first time I've seen this foam gun method to wash the car. So after the car is all lathered up, what's the next step?

Is the shampoo strong enough to break down the dirt without me scrubbing at all? In other words, can I just rinse the bubbles off?

Looks pretty interesting, I may take the plunge.

Jay, you still want to utilize a one or two bucket wash system and quality mitts. Pre-soaking does help break down the dirt and contamination before you even touch your car, so it helps minimize adding imperfections. What I typically do, is pre-soak the entire car, then break the car into 1/6ths or 1/8ths (depending on the size). I'll re-foam that 1/6th working area, take my mitt and clean a panel. Rinse the mitt in the rinse bucket with a Grit Guard insert, move onto the next panel. After washing the couple panels in your 1/6th foamed area, I give that area a rinse (either by switching settings or quickly popping off the foam tank). I move onto the next working area, re-foam, and continue the process. This would be the 1 bucket method. The 2 bucket method basically still has a bucket with shampoo and you can bypass using the foam gun to re-suds your working area.

If you're looking to remove a light layer of dust, you may be able to get away by just foaming up your car, rinsing and drying. If the vehicle is pretty contaminated with dirt, you want to still use some mitts.

Waxing alone only takes about 45 mins for me to apply and remove. Polishing is usually what takes the most time, but also is what yields the best results. The length of time for polishing depends on your experience, technique and how deep the imperfections are (which determines how many coats or levels of polish are needed). Using a clay bar usually takes me 45 mins ~ 1 hour (on a well maintained vehicle). Sealant is about the same as a coat of wax for me, so roughly 45 mins. You will get faster as time goes on. What's your process look like now with time estimates? Are you using a buffer? I'll see what I can critique to get your time down. Usually twice a year, I do end up spending about 7 hours on my exterior, but those are for my complete Spring and Fall prep jobs. In between I spend no more than 2 hours for interior and exterior maintenance.
