So I pulled the "G37," and the "INFINITI" emblems, and there is still the outline in the paint finish from where the emblems came off. Is this going to require wet sanding to remove the outline or can a detailer take it off with a high speed polisher?

 

A lil wax and polish and you will be fine and dandy.....

 

if you have removed all of the double stick tape, some cleaner wax should help make it look better. the guys here who have debdged will tell you this is normal and will eventually disappear.

 

Well i'll hit it again this afternoon with another round of cleaners, polish and wax, but I was bummed to pull off the emblems to see the outline of the letters in in finish. It looks like its part of the paint though, but this is normal? I've debadge many of my cars and never see and outline so pronounced as this but this is my first Infiniti.

 

No you shouldnt see any evidence of the emblems after you get the glue off and have waxed it.... Detailed Image will be along soon...he will have a for sure answer for you...

Had the same issue then it went away after a couple waxes and polishes

i used the goo gone and the glue is all off.
however the letter imprints r still there and it seems to be a little discolored..

I also de-badged my black G37S. The emblems left a few marks (imprints and outlines). I used Fine Hand Polish from Griot's Garage applying in a grid manner; followed by Griot's Garage Best of Show Wax...applied with a cotton pad and removed with a microfiber towel...looks great!

You have to understand how to remove imperfections from paint before you can know understand what you have to do..

Now you prolly have dull paint or scratches all over the places.. Wax WILL NOT fix this. I have the same problem which I will be fixing this week. I will start with a abrasive compound that will add even more scratches but will even the scratches out. Then I will use a light compound to remove some more scratches but still will look like poop... Then I will use a heavy swirl remover/scratch remover to polish it up.. I will do this several times till all scratches are gone. Then I will use a extreme fine polish to make it perfect

Then you can use sealant and or wax to protect from future...

Just remember you have to polish in steps and going as abrasive as you have to in order to get all scratches out.. Only use the abrasive compounds in the areas that have the scratches. And a RO polisher will help this process out big time! GL!
