I swear, everytime I wash my G, I see more and more swirls and light scratches. I seriously can't believe how soft this paint is. I set a DVD case on the roof for a minute, took it off and it was scratched. How do you guys wash yours? And what specific materials do you use? Is a high powered hose required to wash off the dirt beforehand? Will wax only cover up the scratches? Will it help prevent it?

2 bucket wash system with grit guard, Microfiber mit and towels, quality soaps... and plenty of TLC.

 

I have OB this time and on my previous car and you will definitely start to see small scratches and swirl marks but after a good wax you dont see them at all.

Wax will not remove or even really hide swirls. You need to polish. Check out the link i provided above.

My best advice is to start reading the two threads that are stickied in this section. George and Kevin have put together two very valuable and informational threads, all your questions will be answered in there.

 

I cry a little ever time I wash the car. I do everything right with the washing but.... I still got swrils and the MOTHERF*&^ING rock pics. Oh well I love driving it and really only I notice the imperfections. Everyone is usually like. Man how do you keep your black car so clean all the time.

 

Unfortunately with black it is literally impossible to not get any swirls or clearcoat imperfections. It's just the nature of the beast. Soo... The best thing you can do is make sure you are using the correct wash techniques to minimize them and wax often to hide them.

and get a detail every 3 months!

 

I polish mine monthly and keep it waxed but black is difficult to maintain
