winter wheel dilemma

Hey everyone,

So I have a 2008 G37S. I want to get winter tires and wheels.... I'm going with the 225/50 R18 for the tires. I really have no idea what do to for the rims. Are there any cheap options out there that will CLEAR the disc brakes? I heard this is the main issue.

I want to get generic black steel wheels for the winter but I'm not sure if these clear the disc brakes or not. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I really don't want to spend a lot of money on winter rims, so any advice on cheap rims that will actually clear the disc brakes (steel or any rim) will be much appreciated.

Thank you all!

I m using the MSR 045 18x8.
You will not find steel rims that will clear our front calipers.

Try to find a set of used OEM rims off a g35 or g37. Craigslist.

I got winter rims and tires for 1250 from the dealer 2 winters ago for my G37s. When I was shopping for my winters I went to tire shops aswell and they quoted me about the same price except with steelys. The rims look pretty much like the summers except in 18's to clear to rotors...

I thought steelies can't clear the rotors?? What winter rims did you get?

I might just end up going with winter tires for my 19" oem rims... and then getting a new summer rim set once April comes. Still unsure

Not really sure what kind of rims they are. The dealer said they had a whole bunch made just for them. They look exactly like the 19" summers but just in 18's. As for tires I ended up getting Hankook Ipike's. They have a really agressive tread pattern so they feel squirmy on regular pavement, but they are increadble in the snow. I was basically stuck with these because I don't like Blizzaks because they are only half a winter tire, and there was no more stock ANYWHERE for X-Ice...
