Front plate in Ontario

Are any of you guys still running plateless in the front?

So, for the past 10 months, I've been driving without a front plate. I was finally pulled over by an unmarked cop over the weekend while I was driving westbound on Steeles around Leslie. Damn ticket is $110!!!

I think i'm going to get the tow hook front plate mount:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/body-in...e-bracket.html

The Stillen one is like $69USD plus shipping (http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=STILICBKT01&c=EX), but I found one on e-bay for $47 USD shipped (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=).
If anyone is interested, the correct size is 24mm thread diameter, and 7 1/4" length on stock fascia.

I also thought of getting a Show-n-go retractable plate, but ground clearance might be an issue (http://www.ninosport.com/Altec-Show-...te-holder-400U).

Using zip-ties against the front grill briefly crossed my mind, but it makes the car look like it's sticking out it's tongue.

Any other options aside from the ones I've listed above?

haha dude did the cop get you right under the rail track (or overpass) west of Leslie?

You should avoid that specific part of Steeles, especially if you don't have front plates!

Didn't get caught there, but I know the speedtrap that you're talking about.

I just passed Leslie, and I think the cop had turned out from a small street a few moments earlier and spotted me. He had me turn into the street at the first light west of leslie, just before the rail tracks.

turns out the ebay version of the tow hook mount wasn't available for G37's (need one tha is 7 1/4' long).

decided to try an el-cheapo version for now, and wait until the ebay one is ready...so, off to the dollar store i went...

materials:
1 pair of rubber tie down straps with metal hooks ($1.00)
1 roll of weather stripping ($1.50)
1 pack of zip ties ($1.00)
Total Cost = $3.50

pros:
- i can remove it anytime...
- it can be repositioned anywhere on the grill
- only cost $3.50
- didn't have to drill bumper

cons:
- car looks buck-toothed when the plate is on...or looks like this smiley
- bottom of the plate is a little loose as it's not secured, but if i were to go on long trips, i would probably put the 2nd rubber strap over the front of the plate
- plate can be easily stolen

i might still buy the stillen tow hook plate mount, but i think all in all, the front plate looks hideous no matter where it's placed...

thats cool, in the states it wouldn't be worth it stealing the front plate since the registration stickers are only on the back plate.

I'd be worried it would scratch the bottom of the bumper tho.

that's what the weather stripping is for...the plate doesn't touch the bumper

Interesting... are we allowed to cut the plate? How is the plate being held on?

. not a plate, it's a P.shop label.
...another view.

Not strictly legal, but cops didn't seem to care.
It's reflective material, very similar to your validation label that you stick on the rear plate
