Where to Get DRL Done & How Much?

Where did everyone get their DRL done? I was going to do it at a reputable place in Buffalo, NY but they told me they can't guarantee it'd be done by 3 pm (US customs border for exports closes at 4 pm). Don't wanna get it done at Cdn Tire, too many shady happenings with them. I assume Infiniti dealers would charge an arm & a leg.

If anyone did it themself, please give the brand & part # that you used.

In the US, the G37 doesn't come w/ DRL, not even optional.

You do not need DRLs to cross the border. You have 45 days (or something like that) from the time the car crosses the border to get the DRLs put in and then pass the RIV inspection.

Infiniti dealers will NOT do the DRLs. Don't know why; they just won't.
There is no relay or Infiniti part # that you can get to do this. Take it to CT (if you must) or to a place that specializes in electrical work on cars. Ask around.. I can't help you as I'm in Alberta.

This is the only thing that you need to do to pass the RIV inspection.

I know I don't need it done before crossing the border, I'm just asking in general, where did people do it or if they did it themself, what were the parts, etc.

I live in Toronto, anyone in Toronto have a reputable place they can refer me to? Absolutely no to Cdn Tire, CBC had a show which investigated franchise auto shops, & they revealed Cdn Tire had the worst % of dealers committing fraud (telling customers car needed X repair when it didn't).

i did it myself -- check my post in the importing thread, its not hard if you have the confidence to do it yourself. I did call a bunch of Infiniti dealers around the GTA; I believe it was around $450 parts and labor.

I did it at CT, $200. Does the job for me and from what I hear it's pretty simple for anyone who works on cars so they really can't screw up... I don't know why people are so worried.

Which CT? I've called:

2 CTs (near me, "take it to the dealer")
Infiniti dealers (only 1 would do it, $450 + tax)
Simone Performance (reputable independent shop specializing in Nissan/Infiniti, "take it to the dealer or CT")
Cambridge Auto (only place in TO except CT authorized to do inspection, "take it to the dealer")

They all claim that to do it properly, it's too complicated except for an Infiniti dealer to do it. Even the 2 CTs said that.

Where are you? That might be a good start...

I should've mentioned I'm in Toronto.

After calling more CTs since I wouldn't pay a dealer $500, I found 1 that did it (as I had no other option, all reputable shops I called said they couldn't do it). Got charged 1.5 hr labour but it took them 3 hrs (I could see my car being worked on).

Hmm, the Infiniti dealers I talked to would do the DRL before the car was picked up. That was a couple months ago, not sure if they have changed their policy.
