Curious about peoples experience buying a g37s w/6mt with higher mileage. I found one with about 125k miles for about $16k. Does that price seem high? I love manuals but not as much as I did when I was younger. How bad are the paddle shifters for the automatics?
Take it for a test drive and see if you like it.
As for the auto trans, many here complain about how slow it is to shift. I have the 6 MT, so I don't know.
I will only add by saying that if you truly love manual transmissions, no automatic will EVER compare. My only "regret" with my G was that I did not wait and get the MT, but at the time I found a deal on my 5AT Coupe that I couldn't refuse. That said, the paddles are nothing more than a gimmick, in my opinion (and I am unanimous in that). There is no software that will replicate the MT experience. While I am no spring chicken, by any measure, I still have the habit of reaching for the clutch pedal at times... No regrets on buying my G at all, but there are times where I wish I would have waited.
Like SonicVQ said, test drive it and see what you think. In the end it all comes down to what you like, are comfortable with, and your driving style.
Like any used car, expect to perform maintenance and have some issues. If the clutch has never been replaced, expect to spend a few gran doing so. You don't specify what year, but pre 2012 models had potential engine oil problems due to gasket failure (search the site for "oil galley"). Not all engines were affect, but there's been quite a few reports here.

Buying someone else's 125k miles is quite a leap of faith. Doing it for $16,000 doesn't seem a good idea, particularly when you admit to not being as interested in getting a MT as when you were younger. But maybe the car has a history that you trust, and the car is in stellar, fully maintained condition. I don't know, you didn't say.
You also didn't say what year. There's are differences between the 2009 and the 2013 that you should consider. $16k might be a reasonable deal for a 2012 or 2013, if it's in good condition.
As for the G with the 7AT... it's OK. But paddles on the AT are more of a novelty than a part of your driving. Put another way, I don't think paddles are a good compromise for someone who wants a 6MT but buys an automatic.
Agreed. The 7AT with paddles is definitely....adequate for a daily driver and it will never replace a good rev match downshift or a good ole dump and go. The paddles do allow you to hold gears around a corner or in traffic to accelerate with some spirited enthusiasm. My opinion is that the 7AT is comparable to other autos from a 10 year-ish old car and catches lots of flack within this forum, which is understandable considering this is an enthusiast forum. If the shoe fits Cinderella....

I bought my 2009 G37s 6MT sedan sport early this year at 56k miles for $20K in nearly-perfect condition... so my answer would be yes, that seems quite high.
Regarding manual... the paddle shifters don't do squat. It's an automatic and smacking the paddles is nearly pointless, a polite request for the slushbox to do something faster than it'll do on its own. I spent three months finding my car because I won't drive an auto, ever.
Dual clutch, sure. BMW's DCT is pretty awesesome. Auto, not.

I got my 2010 G37x sedan two years ago with 98k miles for $8500. That's extremely high price they're asking with that milage.
Unicorn found: 2009 G37S Sedan 6MT with 159k miles
I just bought a 2009 G37S Sedan 6MT with 159k miles for $10,250 a week ago. It was 1 owner, no accidents, oil gallery gasket and differental bushing replaced (receipts provided) so I took the leap of faith. I'm super happy with the purchase so far as I've been in the market for over a year. It was very difficult but rewarding to find this car with my budget constraints, especially in today's inflated market. I've been looking for the "perfect" sport sedan that's fun to drive and practical (as a new dad) to replace my IS350. I finally found my unicorn car!

With what was done to it, I think you still got a pretty fair deal. I love Infiniti's white pearl paint, and those wheels look really good on it. Are they Q50 wheels?

Just thought I would add another point of reference.
Just last month purchased a 2010 G37S 6MT with 70,000 miles. Yes UNDER 100k verified original miles.
I paid $17,500 for it and have been quite happy with the car so far.
I vowed I needed a manual after killing 3 automatic transmissions in past vehicles. I also needed 4 doors for kid transport duty. So the G certainly fit the bill.
