Buying a 2008 G37S with 165k?
Buying a 2008 G37S with 165k?
Expecting to be a new member here, in the market for a g37!
I've located one, private party sale near me. It looks very clean and maintained, with 165k miles. After talking to the owner of it, he has maintained it well by having normal oil changes every 3k miles, along with all the other necessary things (belts, tires, etc.)
Is there anything I should be on the lookout for with 165k? Anything I need to really pay attention to when looking at the vehicle?
Would love some feedback!
also worth noting the guy is asking around 7k for it.

Prior to purchase, pay for a complete inspection by an Infiniti dealer and use any deficiencies to lower the purchase price. Brakes, exhaust, emissions, and many other parts are close to end of life so be prepared to sink some serious $$$ into an eleven almost twelve year old vehicle
Not sure what your budget limitations may be or how much inventory there is to choose from in your area, however, I would shop around some and see if you can find something newer.
At 165k miles you are going to have some potentially expensive maintenance items coming up (suspension components, bushings, emissions sensors, bearings, etc.). Also, any G37 before 2010/2011 is potentially prone to a internal oil gasket failure which will cost at least $1500 to repair (unless you are a DIY'er). While this issue does not affect every car, it is something you should be aware of. If you do decide to take the car to a dealer/mechanic for inspection make sure they do a oil pressure test. Anything reading less than factory spec would be a no go.
There are also a bunch of interior, aesthetic issues these cars are prone to have including: peeling trim pieces, peeling/warping console panels, and sticky/melting dashboards. While these issues can be written off as "wear and tear" they also can influence your final negotiated price. Also keep in mind that the AV system is seriously outdated (which some would argue it was outdated when it was new).
The silver lining would be: if you are mechanically inclined and are willing to get your hands dirty, almost all of the maintenance and repairs for these cars can be done on a average weekend in the driveway.
Welcome to the site. There is a ton of useful information here and plenty of good folks who are willing to help answer any questions you might have. Good luck with your search/purchase!
