Thoughts on price for a 2009 G37x with 255k miles
Someone I know has a 255k g37x, it has some wear and tear but generally in good condition. A little bit of rust starting on rear quarter and has dings/scratches here and there. New rear brakes (I installed for him a couple months ago) needs front brakes and needs a rear wheel bearing. And very annoying, the drivers side sunviser droops! lol
Thoughts on a price to offer? I don’t want to offer too low but don’t really have anything to compare it to given the miles and work it needs, I will do all work myself. He just bought a 2015 Q50 to replace the G37x.
I plan to use this as a third car for my wife and I (plus it drives much nicer than my truck for commuting to work)
input is appreciated

Around here the prices for half that mileage are hovering around $10k.
but yeah 255k, I’d be hard pressed to take that for much over 2500, less if there was known annoying glitches.

this would be the top of what I'd be at...its almost not even worth taking on..once you break $3k you can probably get one with 50-60k fewer miles with way fewer issues...at $2500 the parts alone will bring you back up past $3000 and that definitely wont cover the body work

Personally, I would pass on it unless you can get it for $2k. For $4k you could get an older G37 with 100k LESS miles. Also the X has more drive train parts (because of the ATESSA AWD system) that can brake with all that mileage wearing it down.

Its at that weird point where its not worth more then X amount to you, but its probably worth X amount as a donation/tax credit to the other person. I don't think there is anything wrong with offering 2K knowing that a dealer trade-in would be in the hundreds of dollars range. But thats only if you want the headache.

I ended up buying the car, here is what I did:
Wipers
Rear pass wheel bearing
New front brakes and rotors
Cross member (used)
Remove and clean both throttle bodies
Bluetooth kit
Registration
total for the car and parts is under $2k, of course not taking into account the Saturday I put into it.
I have since drove the car back and forth from NH to NY and using it to commute to work, so far I really like it and can see myself upgrading to a lower mile one some day when this one quits.
Next thing on my list is a driver side sunvisor! It keeps dropping in the face!

Thats great to hear. I hope my car can make it to that level of mileage. I dont think i can ever get bored driving this car (which is already technically,a dated engine). Keep us updated on further repairs and progress.
