Lease deal to good to be true?
Lease deal to good to be true?
Sorry for jumping right in with this as my first post but the deal expires today.
I've lurked on this site for a bit. I've been wanting a used G37.
This looks like a great alternative. The money, term and mileage works for me but is it a good deal?
The sales guy that I spoke to said to come see him today but I'm a couple of hours away in San Diego and don't want to make a trip for nothing. San Diego deals are not even close.
He said he has the deal but I would have to come today. I tried asking him questions but he has a thick Viet accent and didn't get what I was asking. I asked the online chat person to have another sales person call me but I haven"t heard back.
What do you think?

I'm not a current Infinity owner

Check out some good info here. Get all the details first. Does it have all the options you want, do you qualify for that tier credit, can you afford to only have 10k miles a year.

Thanks. I'll give it a look.
It does have the options, I have 800+ credit, 10,000 mi's. is no problem because I have a company car another truck and my wife works at home. We drove about 4k last year on the sedan.
I checked it out. I've never purchased or leased a car before. The deal is $169 and SD says $200-$300/mo.
I know there are a lot of ways to structure a lease but this is a price that my wife agrees to
Accords, Passat's and Mazda6's go for $200-$220/mo.
I've read some post's from that site about leasing before. I still am not very well versed yet. I didn't anticipte acting so quickly.

Special offer for current Infiniti owners. I think they got that number after factoring in ALL possible incentives that one can qualify for. You can definitely try bargain you way down to that monthly payment. And do it over phone/internet and don't get pressured into the stepping into the dealership if the deal is not good.
Q40 should be low $200 range and Q50 in the $300+.

My local dealer has the 50 for 250 for the base they have it in OC for 279 loaded.
I got it today from OC Infinity.
Pretty happy...now. What an ordeal. Way better deal than anything I was offered in San Diego. I'm glad I don't have to go through that again for another two years.

I've only had two cars for the past 30 years. My dad bought them both for me. An '83 T-Bird Turbo Coupe 5 speed, (which I still have) and a '95 Acura Legend which I also still own and drive. Its in amazing shape only 115000 mi's. It's crazy but it was over $40,000 in 1995. I also have a Toyota truck and a company vehicle.
This was the first car I've ever bought. I talked to a guy sales guy at OC, Dominique. He assured me that he had the deal for me before I embarked upon my odyssey. Two hours from San Diego to Westminster. However, he was not there when I arrived. Admittedly, I was running late.
The negotiations were grueling. When the sales lady first came back after the credit check she said, sorry I think you're going to need a co-signer. I about crapped a brick. She said that my score is only 841. Whew!
I had to go back and forth with the sales lady on several offers. Then her and the sales manager. I then turned my growing anger towards the manager and just spoke directly to him. The first deal she came back with was not even close so I just laughed scoffingly, turned to my Dad and said we're out of here. She was like no, no don't go, what's wrong? I said that's not the deal, Dominique said you still had it and this is not it.
She started in with, well the discount was for April, the pearl was extra, blah, blah blah. I told her those were all valid points, that I understood-but they are all negated by the fact that Dominique promised me the deal and like an idiot I trusted that this dealership would honor it.
The sales manager came back with some more offers, none of which were not quite the deal. I agreed that since I wasn't a current owner I'd have to forgo the extra K discount. Fair I guess. Plus there was 400 for the pearl paint, 200 for wheel locks and super duper special paint coating, which they say they add to all the cars. They even wanted over a thousand dollars for chrome rims. Not even nice ones, just the same 17" stock wheels, just a little more shiny . Whatever. I said keep the stupid wheels, wheel locks and they could scrub that paint coating right off because it's BS.
I kept angling for MSD's too but that was a no-go too. The manager finally came back without a final offer and just said he was sorry. I was pissed. The sales lady was too because I took it out on her a bit and she was not going to get her sale.
Finally, I walked out pissed and let them both know it. I came back in and went straight to the General Manager's office to tell him about how my guy said he had the deal for me but now after a two hour drive up, they couldn't make it happen.
He went into the same mantra, deal over, none left, maybe they sold the last two they had in the two hours that it took to get there, he could have checked but inventory lists lag, paint, extras... Again, these all could be valid reasons, but were all negated by Dominique's assurance.
He said that they were loosing money on this deal. I told him that I am familiar with the concept of loss leaders and explained that I knew how they worked. I said this beautiful dealership was not built on loosing money and neither was Vegas. This is a great car but they are effectively on clearance now that the Q50 has replaced it. I said I could be back in two years, that this could be a bridge to the Q50. Didn't he want a return customer over a pissed off one because his dealership didn't stand by its word?
So he went over the numbers and gave me a better deal but still not the $1,999, 169+tax, plus paint, wheel locks, coating, 1K for not being a current owner. And came up with something close but not quite it. I said, well that's it then. He said hold on and gave me one last deal.
At this point I kept thinking about how I showed my wife that most deals for an Accord, Passat, Mazda 3 etc. we're around 200 to 220 with at least $2000 drive off. Better cars like the Lincoln is $199 with $3,900 drive off. All of these were for the base crap models. This car puts them all to shame. Not even in the same league. I again angled for MSD's but he said at this price was just too low already.
My wife just said to keep it under 200. I didn't want to settle for a lesser car. So I just said f*@k it. I want this car. I don't want an Accord or God forbid a H-RV. I know this was much less than the best deal I got in San Diego so I just took his last deal.
Under $200 a month tax included. $2000 + 1000 (not a current leasee) + $400 for pearl +paint + $240 for wheel locks and BS paint coating.
Leasify scored it at a 8.4. It said it really was $1,341 less than the dealer paid for it. Got it for 31,510.21. Sticker was 39,795. Residual 25,070.85.
I know I could have done better. But f' it. I like it.
