A question for any here who work for Infiniti or Nissan
I've got a serious question about new car warranty vs CPO warranty. First, tell me if I have my facts straight.
New Infiniti warranty - 48 mo/60K mi bumper to bumper; 72 mo/70K mi power train
New Nissan warranty - 36 mo/36K mo bumper to bumper; 60 mo/60K mi power train
But the warranty on a CPO (used) vehicle is:
Infiniti 72 mo/100K power train ($50 deductible),
Nissan 84 mo/100K power train ($50 deductible)
1. Why is the warranty on a used car better than on a new one?
2. Why is Nissan's CPO warranty better than Infiniti's?
I'm seriously asking folks who work for the companies.

I I have background as an Actuary / Analyst / Statistician so my answers to add some credibility to my response.
1. Used warranties are generally better because the dealer has the opportunity to reassess the wear and tear of a vehicle prior to resale. For new cars, virtually any type of defect could occur so with a used vehicle, there is extra information which allows the ability to provide a more enticing warranty.
2. My best guess would be that Nissan attracts a different crowd than Infiniti. Nisan / Infinity probably conducted analytics to conclude that Nissan owners care more or retain Nissan vehicles longer than Infiniti owners. As such, Nissan owners value the CPO warranty more.

Hey BB, I also have wondered why this is. Good question. I do know that in my area it looks as if more of these vehicles are leased than bought. The Lauderdale Infiniti dealerships lot is always inundated with CPO off lease vehicles. Maybe it's a marketing tool?
New Infiniti is 4 year/60k bumper to bumper, 6 year/70k power train.
New Nissan is 3/36 and 5/60.
Cant remember nissans.
CPO Inifniti is remainder of 4/60 and 6/100k from in service date. I don't believe there should charge you $50 deductible. I had a customer get his timing chain replaced and nothing out of pocket.
Power train is a cheap investment so OEMs can offer them for longer terms. Whats the likely hood of the engine or transmission giving out vs windows or nav or HAVC?
Thats why Kia offers 10/100k.
