Possibly buying G37s this weekend. Need last advice. Thanks!

So I'm considering getting a G37S coupe this weekend.
Its an 08 and it has around 74k miles.
It is fully loaded and it only has one owner.

He is asking 16.8k for it.
It looks like a well taken car.

I will do my best to check out the car.
But any major things I should watch for? Other then checking the clutch, for leaks, major damage etc.

Also, does this seem like a decent deal? or is it a bit to high?

Thanks.

The price seems pretty good. However, I always recommend having a professional check the car out from bumper to bumper before purchasing any used car. Where I live pre-purchase inspection services typically costs between $100-$150 but is well worth it (IMO) for someone more experienced than you are and who does this for a living to go over everything in the car and find any potential problems. If they find anything you may decide to pass and look for another car or may be able to use that info to negotiate the price down.

Good luck.

That seems like a good idea.
I think that 16.7k is good, im just a little worried about the clutch, and other stuff since it has a decent amount of miles.

But good idea.
i will probably do that.

Thanks.

I'm at about 85k on the stock clutch and it isn't slipping *yet*. If the car was driven decently I think you should be ok. But you could always do some tests to see if it is slipping.

As far as major mechanical issues, I haven't had any with my car (that weren't self inflicted at least ). Check the simple things like serpentine belt, brakes, alignment, etc. But like BB said definitely try to get it inspected by a mechanic if you can - it is always good to get another opinion.

Are the door seals malformed/can you hear air in the cabin while driving? How is the interior? Are the trim pieces peeling around the steering wheel, gauge cluster, knee area, and door pulls? I think those are some common issues, at least in hot climates.

Great advice.
I will definitely be checking for things like those and will highly consider getting it inspected.

So you would say the price is fair?
Just trying to get a good deal lol
Thanks.

Sounds like a good price to me, but I honestly haven't looked into what the going rates are for coupes these days. Take a look at edmunds with comparable options and see how it falls in line with their TMV.

6MT models are known to not have particularly good clutch longevity. Some have had better luck than others. I got 60K out of mine and change to aftermarket and have had about 50K trouble free miles since then.

Still had the original clutch on my 06 G35 just shy of 172k miles when I traded it in 2 years ago
Got 200k miles on both my 88 Mazda 929 and my 1980 VW Diesel Rabbit.
If you know how to properly drive a manual transmission 200k miles is easily obtained.

Yes, we know telcoman. As I clearly stated, some have had better luck than others. You get better mileage than everyone else too so there's no real need to post how you get 39.37578 mpg since purchasing the car. Or exactly how many fill ups and oil changes you've gotten. I could have posted that I had over 220K on my old Stanza's original clutch when I got rid if it. But why? All great info, but not relevant here since the OP is asking what's typical.

Your indication that not getting 200K on a clutch is wrong and silly. It depends on tons of factors. It is mostly how you drive. Since you clearly drive like a hyper-miling grandfather, one would expect that you'd put very little wear on the car. Good for you. You must be proud. I know we're all proud of you. But the car and clutch in question factors in. Where you drive factors in. So please keep in mind that when people are asking what can normally be expected, you're an anomaly and your results are not typical. But thanks for sharing.

So I bought it, and I'm having an issue I didn't catch.
the AC only blows cold on 60&61.

If I turn it up to 63, it blows hot.
I'm not sure why it does this.

The owner states thats its been like that, he is the only owner.

I don't catch this when I bought it. I turned the ac on but it was on 60 and I never thought about moving the ****. I checked for other things once I saw that the ac blows cold. (I assumed it worked normally)

Does any one know what it could be?

I googled a lot and searched but didn't find much to the problem.

Any help would be nice.

Thanks!

Have you checked if it needs a charge?

Possibly the refrigerant needs to be recharged or (less likely) the AC cabin filter needs changing. I don't see the filter issue causing the problem though.

I haven't. I will do that though.

Someone else mentioned that it could be the wiring or a sensor issue.

But thanks for the input!

Yes, I'm thinking the same as well.
Im thinking that it wouldn't blow any cold air if it needed a recharge.

But someone mentioned that it could be a sensor wiring issue.
I'm gonna look into it this coming weekend hard.

Hopefully its not a big cost.
Thanks!

It's easy to check that. Slap a gauge on it and you'll know it it's low.
