'08 G35S sedan OR '11 G37 Journey

Need you opinions:

I'm looking at these two cars to replace my recently totalled '07 G35X.

2008 S sedan, with backup camera/Nav and other goodies
Auto with paddles
Blue Slate with tan leather
53,000 miles
$17,500 obo

OR

2011 Journey sedan
Seems fully loaded
Auto
Graphite with black leather and wood trim
56,000 miles
$19,500 obo

I like the idea of the Sport model (paddles, etc.), but at 3 yrs newer, basically same mileage, and only $2k more I wonder if I'd be better off with the 2011.

Thanks!

go for the 2011. If you're like most owners, you would never use the paddles. Especially if the 2011 also has nav and backup camera.

My vote would be the 2011 as well. You can always add the shift paddles, sport wheels, etc. later on if you really want to. I've found my base 2011 G37x to be plenty sporty without any mods. Although I seem to be in the minority around here. 😉

I think the most important fact has been missed: 3.5L vs 3.7L V6 G37 There's no replacement for displacement. ; )

How much will it cost you to make up for the missing 22 hp? It will probably cost more than buying the paddle shifter kit for a couple hundred. You'd actually pay about the difference in the cost of the cars to get the G35 at about where the G37 starts.

It seems like years in service takes more of a toll on a car than the miles accrued. Rubber bushings wear regardless. Sometimes low mileage cars have sat for extended periods without being driven which is much worse than driving the car.

go with the 2011 g37 journey. the power difference, larger displacement and higher tech valve train are more then worth the $2k. you'll be modding anyway and replacing most of the suspension. the brakes on the journey are pretty good. you won't notice the difference unless you track the car...

IIRC the Akebono big brakes weren't part of the S pkg in 08 on the sedans, only on the coupe.
