Buying an auction car?
I doubt you'll find an 2012- or 2013 infiniti at an auction. The car I recently got from an auction was a 2011 G37X lease return. If you find a 2012, theres probably something wrong with it/possible accident.
Current year 2014 - (3 year lease) = 2011

Where do you think most of them end up?
Many were shipped out of state to states with lax title regulations to have the titles washed and then sent to auction.
Be careful!

Not worth the risk. Cars are an investment although a poor one. Why take the chance? I'm not a buy new kind of guy but you never really know with auctions unless you already know the cars history somehow. I'd be very careful, Bro.
Auctions..... I'd stay with buying classic cars from them, not daily drivers.

You can get great deals at auctions, they are mostly off lease cars being sold off by the manufacturer these days if you are talking about an auction like manheim, but you need a dealer license or know someone who has one. Government and public auctions are a different story, mostly totaled or repo'd cars.
Either way you don't know what your getting until after you purchase so there is always a chance the car is going to be a rat.
My car came from an auction and I was expecting the worst, but when it came in on the truck, the car was in amazing condition. Gotta be ready for either scenario or be prepared to recon the car.
A carfax will tell you the cars history most of the time or whether it was totaled etc.
Are you going to be going in person or buying online?

My car was at an auction. The auction (ADESA in Washington DC) has an insurance thing where you pay them 100+ and they'll inspect the car for you for any damages/floods/etc before giving you the car. (This is after you purchase it). After the inspection they'll tell you what's wrong and at the point you can decide to take it home, or get a FULL refund. Keep in mind this is a dealer only auction. Basically, I got my car at dealer rates. But I paid the dealer labor fees.
