Advice Please!

So im currently deployed and looking into buying a G37s when i get back to the states. I'm torn between platinum graphite & black... leaning more towards PG so i wanted people to give me their opinions on which looks nicer. Also i was wondering if around 20-21k is a good price for a 08-09 g37s with between usually 30-50k miles.

All advice is welcome plus some =)
& if i do get the PG i plan on putting it on Vossen Wheels either CVT or CV7 and im hesitant on polished or graphite. Opions?

Thanks and im new to the forum btw =)

Welcome to the forum!

You will get differing opinions on color of course, but one thing you can consider is, generally, black will be harder to keep looking clean and glassy than a metallic color. If you plan to detail yourself, no worries. If you are a car wash guy, black may look tired quickly.

To be honest, I don't think you will find a nice S coupe with only 30k miles for $21k.

At least not at a reputable Infiniti or Nissan dealership.

My favorite colors are platinum graphite, black and white.

Depending on the mods and the wheels really makes each 3 of those colors awesome.

Black will be hard to clean, but looks awesome.

First, thank you for your service! I have the Malbec Black M and it's a PIA to keep clean but ..... it looks so nice when I do! PG isn't bad, the closer to gray the better and the closer to silver you run into "no sale silver". Our G is the Blue Slate which is pretty dark but looks better longer than the black. If you keep it in a garage a clean black car will hang in there looking good a bit longer. Sometime our garage is in use and the M has to stay in the driveway and it hardly lasts the night (dew, pollen, etc).

Well currently i live on base so sadly no garage. I have a black car now and know what you mean so i think im going to go with PG. Now when it comes to the years im stuck between 08 & 09. Is there really much of a difference with them or should i just save a few bucks and get the 08? Most of the cars i see are actually around 50k+ miles & priced from 20-23k

& Thank you =)

hey

I wash my car almost every week since my friend own a war wash. It is really hard to keep Black clean however if you wash it a lot i would recommend black. I am planning on wrapping my car with metallic blue. I just ordered the 3M and planning on doing it myself. Hopefully it will turn out nice. lol

As for Black or Metallic...metallic all day for all the reasons above

With darker colors you will tend to see more swirling in paint.. I have the black obsidian and the swirling is driving me up a wall.

I hope you bought a LOT of extra, because self-installing a full vinyl wrap is ambitious to say the least.

If this is your first time i would say save the hassle and get a shop to do it lol especially if its the whole car. I tried to do my bumper and lets just say it didn't come out so well lol. But if you are gonna do it, get an extra pair of hands to assist, you'll need it.

As for op, i would pick PG as well

Thank you everyone! Now what about years, im torn between spending a decent price for an 08 but then the 09 isnt that far off either, or should i maybe try to spend more for a '10. Id rather stay between 8-9, is there any major difference?

Welcome, you are interested in a great car! Like all things it has its upd and downs - but if you get one I really think you'll enjoy it. Enjoy your stay

There were a number of changes in 2010:
-removal of the factory iPod cable and CF card slot
-addition of bluetooth streaming for music
-addition of a usb port in the center console for iPod hookup (which also charges the iPod - the cable in the 08's and 09's don't charge) or other media players
-placement of fog lights in the lower corners of the bumper (vs. in the headlight assembly)
-upgrade in the Navi system and screen

Anyone else please chime in on the things I've left out. I did this list on the fly from the top of my head.

When i get the car i plan on change the front bumper to IPL, along with the rims & possibly the side skirts as well and most defiantly the spoiler.. I've heard the only major difference between 08-09 is the 5AT vs the 7AT.. is that really that big of a difference?
