2011 Infiniti G37 Sedan Journey for $24,900?
Hey guys, I'm looking at a black Infiniti G37 sedan with black interior with 26,189 miles. The selling price is $25,992 but I talked him down to $24,900. The Carfax looks good and everything looked good in person, but the only thing I'm worried about is it was a commercial vehicle. What do you guys think?
Here is the Carfax:

Price sounds about right. I kbb'd the vehicle and it shows 23.7-24.5 price range for that year/mileage/model. I wouldn't be so worried that it's a commercial vehicle. As long as everything checks out and is good to go.
Yeah I KBB'd it and it showed a retail of about 26k. So I guess being a commercial vehicle, it isn't bad as long as maintenance and stuff have been done for it.. Thank you for your reply.
Do you mean that you shy away from buying USED? And yeah the money is the big factor for my decision on buying a used vehicle. That, and I'm still young and don't need a brand new car.

From the carfax, it appears someone RELIGIOUSLY did oil changes on it! Around 2/2012 a loan or lien was reported. Sounds like they refi'd it or something, cause the title # stayed the same.. Maybe the name on the title got changed.. Not really a big deal IMO.
As for "commercial", maybe it was some exec's car or someone's company car.
You still have 2 years and 24K miles of factory warranty remaining.
Note, the car has been on the market since early april 2013 (4/3/2013), so it's been on their lot for over a month now. That may give you leverage.
If you're not mechanically inclined, have the car inspected by a trust worthy dealer (is there such a thing) or your favorite independent shop. At this point, it probably will be needing tires/brakes in the not too distant future. Also, if you participate in the 30K maintenance interval, it's quickly approaching that marker.
Being black, a good eye should be able to tell if there any panel painting or paint mismatches present. If the car drives well, has no obvious issues, it well worth considering.

This does appear to have the premium features, but is no nav, nor is it a sport.

The price seems real good...
Nothing is absolutely necessary, the inspection is mainly for peace of mind. If you don't want to have it inspected, at least bring someone who's knowledgeable about cars to drive it and offer their 2¢ worth. Just because it's from a dealer doesn't mean anything. Dealers will gladly sell you anything so long as a profit can be turned.

My bad. Hard to keep track of all the different warranties... Was thinking it's 4yr/50K mile for the basic.
Every new Infiniti comes with the peace of mind of Standard Infiniti Limited Warranties:
4-year/60,000-mile Basic coverage
5-year/50,000-mile Emission Control coverage
6-year/70,000-mile Powertrain coverage
7-year/unlimited-mileage Corrosion coverage
10-year/unlimited-mileage Seat Belt Warranty
4-year/60,000-mile Genuine Infiniti Accessories Basic coverage (when purchased at time of vehicle sale)
Up to 7-year/100,000-mile Infiniti Extended Protection Plan (optional)
2-year/24,000-mile Federal Emission Performance Warranty
4-year/60,000-mile Federal Emission Defect Warranty
8-year/80,000-mile Federal Emission Long Term Defect Warranty
4-year/60,000-mile California Emission Performance and Defect Warranties
7-year/70,000-mile California Emission Long Term Defect Warranty

Haha just making sure. Thanks again. Do you or anyone else reading know where I could get a pre purchase inspection? I am not from that area so I was considering a place like Goodyear or AAMCO.

^^Identify your exact location. Maybe there are others in the forum from that area that can recommend someone. Also, check out the local forums in your area. Most metro areas have them. If you have a friend who's mechanically inclined and familiar with cars, bring them with.
MOST IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take the car for a real test drive. I don't mean beat the crap out of it, but take it for a good 30-50 mile loop including all sorts of driving conditions, bumpy roads, good roads, interstate, curvy roads, etc.
You want to make sure the car is tracking straight, brakes in a straight line, doesn't wander or veer or pull. In an area with no traffic, do a few panic stops from 50-60 mph. The car should stop in a straight line and/or the abs kicking in. Are there any significant rattles? Are there any air leaks with the windows closed and car at speed (have your passenger sit in the back seat too). Any strange noises? The list goes on and on.
When I bought mine (albeit it was new), it was written into the deal that I would take the car for upto 2-3 hours on a test drive and if there were any issues, backing out of the deal was one of my options. I had to twist arms to get that. On delivery day, I was satisfied after about an hour's test drive (meeting the above criteria).
If the car is as good in person as it seems on paper, sounds like a solid deal. If you have any concerns, consider the extended warranty. I got it for mine mostly for 2 reasons - being a mt, the slave cylinder is prone to failure. Also read alot about syncro's going bad. Also, compared to my last car ('97 z28) this one has ALOT more electronics which will get very pricey outside of warranty.
Good luck!
