I currently have a '04 G35 sedan with 6spd. It's been a great car but is promised to my niece in Feb. My next car needs to be automatic because my new wife isn't versed on a manual gearbox. I assumed I would just get a '09 G37 to get the newer design engine and 7spd transmission. However, after some research, the negative responses regarding the 7spd auto are making me think the slightly older G35 auto may be a better choice. If I got a 7spd auto are the software packs/updates making the tranmission good, or would I be better off with the older unit?

 

Get one with warranty if you're worried about the transmission. I'm sure most people will say g37 since afterall this is a g37 forum. Real nice of you to give your niece the g35. If that's her first car that's one heck of a first car for a teenager.

 

What about the 08 sedan & coupe g37 that still has the 5 speed auto. That's what I'm considering. Best of both worlds

 

I assume he wants to go from one sedan to another considering that they never made a newer body style G35 coupe.
