Worth it to buy new '12 vs. 09-11

Hello,

Just wanted to get some opinions on if it is worth it to buy a new g37x sedan vs. a certified one from 09-11.

I have had my eye on these for years, but my 99 Maxima has served me too well to justify it until now (rust). I would like the sport package but it's not a deal-breaker.

Are there any options that are definitely reccomended/ or reccomended to skip? Or any big differences between the 4 years?

Thanks for any help.

Your best bet is checking them both out in person and seeing if you find anything that makes you want a newer one than an older one. Why are you factoring out the 08? I got the 08 with the sport package and there isn't a day I wish I had gotten a newer g.

Get the sport....You get big breaks nicer seats nicer wheels etc. Save some money and by a used one no big difference between 08's and 12's. There has been imorovements and front facia upgrades but not drastic enough in my opinion...

08 Sedan is still the 5 speed whereas the 09+ are the 7 speed transmission. Better MPGs, some have a few quirks, but fine transmission.

09 Will have the older front fascia, vs the 10+ and also the interior had a minor revision in 10+. So, as stated before, go check them out, look at pictures on autotrader, and see what you like better.

I'm a "newer is better" but budget will vary greatly from 08-12.

If you get NAV, get 10+. Otherwise the changes from 09 to 10+ are just cosmetic. Although there are posts saying Nissan has finally fixed all the bugs with the AT in 2012.

just depends what you want. I was looking for a 2010-2011 originally, selection sucked and it was only $5k more to get a brand new one from what was available at the dealers. Also weigh in the 1.9% financing on new cars and the warranty.

I love the fact that I know exactly how my car has been treated from day one, that I'm following the break in process exactly how I want, and taking care of it properly. Really gives a piece of mind. May just be my experience, but new car salesman are usually more pleasant to deal with than the used car sales.

Definitely get a '12.

My bro had an '08, I've had a '10 and an '11. My '11 does some funny transmission stuff. If the '12 doesn't have the issue, that alone is worth it. I'm getting rid of my '11.

I don't like the thought that someone could have beat on it for xx,xxx miles. Everyone always says that their car was "babied". You think anyone would ever tell you that they abused it daily, that their cousin took it for a joy ride on a dirt road, that a valet put 200 miles on it while at dinner, and you might not hear about the time that they smashed into the curb (didn't report it, so no one knows).

On top of peace of mind, you have... peace of mind. It seems you may have it for awhile. You get a 4yr/60k warranty and can extend that.

Must haves are Sport, Premium, Nav, and the kick plates are pretty cool.

So, when are you picking up your '12?

Thanks for all the replies and help. I drove a 12 with premium no sport, and a 10 with premium no sport and couldn't really tell a difference.

I am kinda stuck on the sport package. I like the seats and the paddle shifters, but I honestly like the look of the non sport wheels better, and the front fascia looks good on both. So I am really just wondering what the difference in ride is. Is it a big ride feel difference? Are the breaks the same?

For the sport, brakes are bigger and upgraded, ride is a little more firm, Tires that come with the sport are better, one of the big things you'll notice is the quicker steering ratio. Front is a personal preference, seats are objective, best thing about sport seats is the thigh support extenders, for long trips the non sport seats are more comfortable IMO.

Really personal preference, drive a sport and a non sport back to back and decide whats best for you.

2010 is the sweet spot year that fixed a lot of the bugs from 08-09. Considering the next generation Infiniti G will be coming shortly, I don't see a reason to buy a 2012 right now unless you can get a really good deal on one.

My GF just got 2012 G37 XS fully loaded with kick plates, black on black last night.

Only the Coupe XS comes with 4-Pot breaks not the 4-door.

She was blessed to get one with 2 miles on it and right off the truck

When I go to drop off the 2011 for service I always get base X sedan and thing's rides like pickup truck that has been beat up.

Her's is butter smooth and with Sport Package: Sport seats and better wheels and tires and sport tune suspense! She also is adding the Aero lip and rear trunk lip with black mid night grill.

The trans was smooth and did not feel like the X loaners I get!

So if I was you I get a 2012 G37XS you won't regret it!

The X sport sedan doesn't have the sport brakes or suspension, but the RWD S sedan has both. Don't ask me why, but for some reason Infiniti made the S package on the AWD more of an appearance type of thing.

The feeling of a new car is great! But it depends on how much you want to spend on the car. If you want to keep the car for a while I'd say go with a new one.

if u have the money its allways nicer to go for the new car. no worries about what others did to it, fresh paint, fresh everything.

on the other hand you could buy used and use the extra money to mod it up. if you go used you should look for a 2010 or 11. they have better steering wheels, navi and some other things compared to the 2009.
