I agree. I'd take the car with the Nav. If and when you sell it... it'll help resale, too.

Go with navigation. I can't tell you how many people regret not getting navigation and wanting to add it later.

Despite what people think NAVI does NOT help resale at all, and you can buy a cheap $200 navi to use when you need it and transfer from car to car. Considering that NAVI in most new cars is a $2,000+ option it's a huge LOSS when it comes to resale.

My thought is tell them you want the non-navi for $27,000 and don't look back on using navigation the 4 times a year that most people do.

You dont only get navigation with the navi package. In addition to a better audio system with Musicbox storage, you get the backup camera. The backup camera is one of the nicest features that a luxury car can have. Those without it might not realize how useful this feature is. Once you have it, you cannot live without it.

And the OP is not purchasing the car new. He is buying a preowned G37. So if your theory of navi not helping with resale value is correct, then the seller is taking a huge loss. OP would benefit from getting the car with navi.

Yeah, no backup camera sucks.

To the OP, you just need to figure out what you want to spend. Everyone here is likely to tell you that you can do better. That's how these threads go.

Somewhere out there, someone got a better deal than you will get. But most of us get average deals because it's a balance of convenience and lack of patience that drives most of us to ultimately purchase the car we do.

FWIW, my in-laws got an loaded 09xS sedan early last year with 14k miles for 33, so 30 doesn't sound too bad.

Get the Nav. Yes, phones have mapping software now, but do you really think it's convenient/safe to use it while driving?

I completely disagree with Beer. OEM Nav definitely helps with resale, especially on an upscale car.

btw, I paid over $1k more for an '09 with Nav and slightly more miles less than 6 months ago, and got a ridiculous deal. Assuming it's clean, that's a really good price, at least for where I'm located.

Definitely get the Nav. I'm glad I did. Not only does your screen/center console look better with it, it's also very handy when you need it. And the backup camera is awesome for backing up in dark places (I got 20% tint on my back window). Also, I'll bet any money that you'll use it more than just 4 times a year.

I know my way around my city and its surrounding ones pretty well. But I also use my Nav pretty often whenever I'm in unfamiliar places. I always look for short cuts.

The car was more expensive, so therefor the resale should be the same difference. As you can see they are trying to get the price for Navi on the used cars ($2,000 difference) so the actual car sells for more, but the resale (residual) reflects the lower initial sticker price...so it DOES NOT HELP with resale value.

Most phones have some sort of NAVI software that you can stick to the window just like portables.

The dash looks 100% the same, it just doesn't have a navi map...which I don't even use when I'm driving because I know where I"m going.

Also people back up every day without backup cams. I use mine but honestly if it wasn't there I wouldn't care. They probably cause more accidents because people stare at the screen instead of paying attention to things on the sides.

Navigation makes you dumber, just like cell phones. How did people get places before Navi? They learned.

Miles are more important than something you can add on for $250.

OP,

Get the nav and the backup camera. It's a huge convenience for tight parking, especially when you try to back out of a tight parking spot.
