Bought a 2011 G37 Journey sedan. What do you think of the deal?
Hi All,
Thanks to this forum and all the members with tons of information, I finally bought a 2011 G37 Journey Sedan.
Black Obsidian with Graphite
- Prem package
- Nav Package
- Ill Kick plates
Purchase price 35300 plus TTL. Love the car
I feel that i got overcharged on the sales & use tax. I checked the state website and DMV website and all show 8.250% but dealer charged 9.250%, i argued but they said that it automatically calculates based on the Zip code.
If i was overcharged? what are my options? should i contact dealer?
Thanks,

There's state tax, there's county tax, and some areas even have a municipality tax. They all vary by region/county/state, so without knowing your full location details, you won't get a accurate response. You COULD contact your state's tax/revenue dept and ask what taxes you should be subject to when purchasing a vehicle.
In cook county, il, it's 7.25%. Other counties are 6.25%. If you're in chicago, you get to bend over and take it from the city tax collector too, another 1%, so 8.25% if you register in the city proper.
Aside from that, the price looks pretty good. I'm still upset that these days those of us who want a manual trans end up paying a premium. Years back used to be the other way around.
