Paying principal of loan...

Is there anyway to pay down the principal through Infinit's online payment portal?

I got financed through Infinity. I've heard that you have to send a check in in order to get it applied towards the principal. Anyone know for sure?

I bet Infiniti Consumer Affairs could answer that for you and give you the scoop.

I pay extra on my payment every month and they automatically put it towards the principal. I just use my online banking, but I have used the Infiniti site also. It will also make your monthly bill go down. For some reason my payment has only gone down since I bought the car. My last car payment bill was $75 less then my first one.

Car loans are typically simple interest; you pay interest on a balance that is constantly updated. If you pay extra, then it goes toward the principal, and you'll finish paying early.

Additionally, the "exta" you paid is taken out of the next month's payment. Theoretically, if you made double payments, you'd only *have* to pay every other month, and you'd still pay less total interest, so your payment(s) may even just disappear.
