Ordering a 6MT Sedan, is this price ok?
It seems that the only way to get a 6MT Sedan in NJ is to order one. All 5 dealers in my area have nothing but x'es and a few of them didn't even bother with my inquiry for a 6MT.
One of the dealers, that quotes for $500 over invoice for cars in his stock, quoted me $1000 over invoice to order the car I want the way I want it.
Is this to be a expected when you special order a car or I should try to get him back down to the $500 over invoice he normally charges?
Thanks for the help.

Theres a fully loaded black one at Infiniti of Ardmore, I just saw it today. nav, premium, tech, 4ws, fully fully loaded. stickers for $43? I forgot, not exactly sure, but I know for a fact they got a black on black in stock.
6MT, Garnet ember/graphite, premium, aero, splash guards, trunk mat, is my target.
I could go for a Blue Slate and/or nav but nothing more or less.
Also, my target buying date is end of this coming August! The only reason I'm doing some research now is that if I need to order one for then, I need to place the order in May or earlier, or so I'm told.
BTW, thanks for the replies guys.

I wouldnt do $500 over invoice even if they had to order one. Keep in mind, they are trying to make your money. they are the one that dont have your car in stock, If they want your business, they will hunt the car down for you, dealer networks have courtesy trade, they can and will get you the car you want, Its different if you want the car in front of you the next day, then thats a different story. Ask them what inventory they are expecting, if you are in no rush, negotiate on an incoming car, or just go to another dealer all together, In this economy, Im pretty sure the dealers desperate to mover their cars. To be honest, I would even try buying at a few hundred under invoice, you never know, if they are desperate, they would do it. Keep this in mind, the cars worth crap even after 1 day off the lot. try trading it in for a $1500 loss the day after you take the car off the lot, they would laugh in your face.
The thing is that I am at a disadvantage. I want something that's not in stock
not only in NJ but a lot of other states around NJ as well.
If I was looking for a G37x I'd be in heaven. There are hundreds of them in my local dealers lots. The chances to get an under invoice deal on a G37x would have been great.
It's simple supply and demand economics. It's hard to make a good deal on something that it's supply is zero. I'll try my best and see what happens.

Things are looking up. Another dealer got involved yesterday and to order the same car I want he is quoting me $1k under invoice. He is next to my house, practically, so I'll be visiting him soon to place the order.
Thanks for your help guys.

Told you, just be patient and you will get the price you want. I wish I was a little more patient when I bought my car, probably could have gotten a few more hundred off. lol
