2008 or 2009 G37

I get the feeling i should wait now since I'm so close to september.... but I don't know much about the G37 2009 besides the introduction of the 7 speed. Maybe it's not worth waiting for? And maybe there would be some incentives to get the 08s of the lot??

Thoughts?

I'm sure you would be able to pull off a better deal if you get an 08. If you don't need the 7AT or AWD, I say get an 08 to save money.

I'm holding out for the 2009, I'm holding out for the AWD, but might even hold out longer ... I was really hoping the hardtop convertible would be ready to roll ...... is the September date just an estimate?

I think the convertible is due out for a spring release.

Yeah, I heard spring for the convertible too.... but I'm not crazy about buying an 08 since I'm kinda already eating a year of depreciation.

..and the 7AT sounds cool and should help with the gas mileage a little?

I'm also not sure about the AWD and if its worth the hype.... thoughts?

The only one's excited about the AWD are the ones who live in bad weather areas, mostly where it snows. So if you live in an area where you don't really need the AWD, it's not worth it since it adds more weight and lessens up the gas milage.

If you live in the south then the AWD and conv. is not worth it. We don't get snow and its too stinkin' hot in the summer for a conv. That is why I got the 08. Right now there is a 1.9% ARP on 08 Coupes for 60 months.

if your planning on getting white and automatic transmission then wait,
if your going to get 6MT and/or another color get it now and save some money for mods.

I plan on waiting, especially since the '09 will have better gas mileage due to the 7AT. Also I've looked at the deals and its really not all that much cheaper than the car cost back last August.

how much better is the gas mileage?

i'm sure when they have 09's on their lot, they have A LOT of incentive to get rid of the 08's... you can potentially save a lot if you play your cards right

Either way you think about it, your going to pay more for the 7AT, but if you save money with the 08 5AT, you can use that money for gas. I guess its a trade-off sort of...

My point exactly, so he wouldn't even get that great of a deal right now since the '09s don't exist yet

Right now it's hard to say how much better precisely the fuel economy will improve with the new 7AT. That said; don't expect a major jump; maybe 1-3 mpg at best like the new FX.

True, the 7AT is all about performance gain and a little economy. The FX35 0-60 time dropped a full second with the new tranny.
