My First Deal 04/26/08

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums and I'm in the market to lease a g37.

I went to my closest Infiniti dealership and I'm wondering if this is a good deal:

2008 G37 Journey
- Black Obsidian
- Premium Package
- Sports Package
- 14 miles on Odometer

- $1000 total drive off ( Tax + License + 1st month pmt)
- $529.93/mo for 39 month lease
- APR of 1.85%
- 15k miles/yr

Sticker price was 41025.

After browsing the all the threads of the first 5 pages I'm guessing that this isn't a good deal...

Right now the best deal is going to be on the 24 mo leases IMHO, simply based on the residuals.

I just called this dealer back and he's telling me that this is the LOWEST they can go. Monclair Infiniti.

Any suggestions for a better dealership around so. cal? I know Santa Monica is a favorite on here but that's pretty far from my house.

I have 4 of these vehicles available in stock now. Call me (see my personal website) to configure this deal for you if you'd like.

G37J as configured MSRP should be $44,285.00 with destination and handling.

MSRP: $44,285.00
Invoice: $40,275.00

Term: 39 mo
Residual: 61%
MF: .00202

Looks like to me you're paying $500 over invoice.

Base Mo Pmt: $489.78
CA Tax @7.25%: $35.51
Mo Pmt: $525.29

Looks like a good deal, aside from the fact it's a 39 mo lease. I've done a 39 mo lease once and I'll never do one again. IMHO you should stick to 24 or 36 mo leases, never anything longer. Possible 48 mo lease if the warranty covers, but I'm not a fan of those myself.

Dirtboy, I am kinda wondering about the whole tax thing. Is a lease payment taxed every month? I'm kinda new to the whole lease deal. In a regular lease, do you pay the sales tax up front like when financing a vehicle? Also, how did you get the invoice price? Preciate any help that gets me on the right level. hehe

Yes, you're taxed on the monthly payment only -- the part of the car you use, rather than the entire car at purchase.

As far as the invoice price, I went to Edmunds.com and priced the model you're looking at with the options you're looking at to get the invoice price.

I understand. With Navy Federal, who I am going through, you don't pay any tax. Pretty cool deal. They are exempt somehow. The only fee is a use fee and it's $30. Not sure if that's tax or not. Getting my car for $39900 otd and am putting $3000 down. Payment is $461, 12000 miles, 36 months, 4.8% interest. Thye may be claiming "you pay no tax" but then coming back with a use fee. Not sure.

Why are you looking at such a long term lease, like listed above shoot for a 2 year deal and the payments can be made almost the same, and do you need 15k you'll catch a lower payment at 12k.

Probably because many care more about the monthly payments then anything else...Naturally a 39 month lease is going to be cheaper "per month" then a 24 month lease...Infiniti doesn't offer 36 month lease rates from what I've been seeing lately...Yes a 24 month is less in residual but some people dont mind keeping a car for 3 years...

After months and months of researching and visiting dealers, I unfortunately did not buy a G37 like I had planned to…

Don’t get me wrong, but I love the way the new G37 looks, in black of course, and its performance/handling. In the end though, I decided that I’m getting older and wanted/needed a car with a bit more versatility.

So instead of the G37, I bought a brand new 2008 FX35 Black Obsidian/Graphite with Touring and Hands-Free!

Special thanks to Dave_ISM at Santa Monica for helping me get a GREAT deal on a fantastic car! He was very patient with me and ran different numbers with different cars, from an EX rwd/awd to an FX rwd/awd, for hours (more like from 2pm to 9pm on a Sunday!!) until I finally decided on THE one!

After I drove my new car home, I found a deep scratch on the front right bumper… I was pretty upset (Yes I forgot the do the walk-around on the car, was too excited). However, one call to Dave and he’s getting it fixed for me as we speak!

Dave is a great person to work with, and I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone! I drove 40 miles from Walnut (from one end of LA County to the other), just to work with him!

In the end, A++ on the deal, A++ for Dave, and A++ for the experience. I already know who I’ll be calling first when I’m ready to get another car!

I thought Dave was over at Cerritos Infiniti. Hey Dave, did you move to Santa Monica?
